Tam- meus, Woodstock, have been appointed to be area chairpersons for McHenry county for the 1961 Lincoln Academy of Illinois Con­ vocation ceremonies to be held in Springfield. Area chairpersons in 80 Illinois communities are working with the academy. The Lincoln Academy of Illinois was organized in 1965 as a private, non-profit, non­ partisan organization in­ tended to honor present and former Illinois citizens whose contributions to the betterment of humanity have brought recognition to the State in the tradition of Abraham Lincoln. There are ten categories for which the Laureates are chosen. However, it is not tmt necessary to choose in­ dividuals from each category each year. Laureates selected in past years include Charlton Heston, Archbishop Fulton J.Sheen, Ernie Banks, Paul Douglas, John Bardeen, Ann Landers, Hugh Downs, Benny Goodman, Jack Benny, Burl Ives and Everett McKinley Dirksen.
