Show Childbirth Film On Mar. 10, at 7:90 p.m., the film, "Childbirth for the Joy of It" will be shown at the Congregat ional Universalist church, 221 Dean street, Woodstock. The film and early pregnancy class will be conducted by Denize Wyse, affiliated Bradley Childbirth teacher and Pam Land of East Dundee. The class will cover the principles of the Bradley "Husband Coached Method", nutr i t ion and exercises during pregnancy. There is no charge for the film showing and early pregnancy class, but because of limited seating, those who plan to attend need register in advance by phoning Mrs. Thos. A. Battered Persons Gamma Psi Topic During the recent meeting of the Gamma Psi chapter of Ddta Kappa Gamma In­ ternat ional , a very in­ formative program on bat tered women and children was presented by three members of Turning Point, Inc., an agency in McHenry county formed for the purpose of aiding any physically or emotionally battered persons. This program was presented at the home of Mrs. Darlene Engle of Harvard. Speaking for Turning Point were Bonnie Cornue, Thomas W. Hunter and Sandra Eusan. The next meeing of the Gamma Psi chapter of Ddta Kappa Gamma In­ ternational will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, at the home of Mrs. Kitty Green of Crystal Lake. A program entitled "Poor or Secure?" - Planning For Your Finan­ cial Future", is scheduled. Full Agenda For UMW The February meeting of the U.M.W. Mission Team (Executive committee) was a very busy one, with many important items on the agenda to be discussed. Kathee Stark, vice president, reported that the date of the Mother and Daughter banquet has been changed to Tuesday, May 19. The theme of the event will be "Love Makes The World Go Round". The circles will be assigned various duties for this event very shortly. A new cirde for young mothers, to meet in the evening, is being organized. The Executive committee prepared two recom­ mendations which they planned to present at the General meeting Feb. 19. The next U.M.W. Mission Team meeting will be Monday, Mar. 2, at 9:90 a.m., in the church parlor. BPW Members Hear Young Careerist And Librararian A very enthusiastic group of McHenry Business and Professional Women con­ vened for the regular February meeting at the John Evans Inn. Focus waa on the Young Careerist winner, Rickie Hoffman, who delivered her topic, "A New Decade, a New Ad- Ms. Hoffman, a reporter- photographer, will compete with other young careerists at the B.P.W. District VI meeting Mar. 15, at the Raindancers restaurant in Woodstock. All Business and Professional Women are urged to support the dub's nominee. Those who have not already reserved the brunch date, can call 985- 0258. Claiming a Joint spotlight with Young Careers was the Library project. June Stuart, Young Careers chairman, as well as the Library project chairman, introduced Sharon Loe of Rockford. Ms. Loe is the Illinois general reference and information services consultant for the Northern Illinois Library system. Lenora Frisby, Mem­ bership commit tee representative, conducted the New Member ritual. Among those installed into B.P.W. membership were Joan Murray, Barbara Walters, Rita Frisby, Dale Anderson, Barbara Hockings, Maxine Cwiak and Ruth Leska. Members and friends were reminded of the White Elephant sale for the March meeting. This is a did) fund raiser and needs everyone's support. McHenry Seniors Schedule Driver's Refresher Course James Jansen of the McHenry Senior Citizens club has scheduled another "Rules of the Road, Driver's Refresher Course". The first session will begin Thursday, Mar. 5, at 9:30 a.m., in the Council chambers of the McHenry City hall, and will last until noon. It is necessary to be there promptly at 9:90 a.m. for registration and eye testing. The second session of the series will be Thursday, Mar. 12, at 10 a.m., and the third and final one will be Thursday, Mar. 19, at 10 a.m. All sessions meet in the Council chambers at the McHenry City hall and all last until noon. Jansen suggests that those attending should bring a pencil or pen and arrive on time for all three classes. This is a free service, offered by the McHenry Senior Citizens club, in conjunction with the Secretary of State's office, and it is not necessary to be a member of the club to be eligible to attend. James W. Jansen, Woodlawn Park avenue. McHenry, can be reached by telephone for any addi t ional information desired. Anyone having a birthday in the near future, at which time the driver's license must be renewed, should arrange to partake of this beneficial program. The course helps to refresh the memory on traffic signs, traffic regulations, and other important and new facts, enabling senior citizens to more easily pass the written test. Jansen and his assistants are very cooperative and happy to be of service. , Hold Alpha Theta Meeting Alpha Theta chapter of Del ta Kappa Gamma Society International,an honorary sodety of women educators, met Saturday, Feb. 14, at Northwood Elementary school , Woodstock. President Nancy Tober began the 10 a.m. meeting by introducing the program speaker, Charlie Campbell, a representative of the Teachers ' Ret i rement System. Campbell informed the members of new legislation pertaining to retired teachers. Roberta Reed, the chapter's representative to the Turning Point on Crises Center gave the members an update on the center's ac­ tivities. ... May Chesak of Huntley was honored as this month's Alpha Theta's Woman in Action. Ms. Chesak has devoted 41 years to education as a teacher and a principal and an additional 10 years as a substitute teacher. She is presently active in the Teacher's Retirement organization on both the local and state levels. Jeannie Ludwig, Patricia Sea ton and Dolores Kruger conducted a memorial service for Elaine Sch- mating of McHenry, who died recently. Alpha Theta members will be enjoying a cultural outing Mar. 28. A tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio in Oak Park, 111. has been planned. Any members who were not present and would like to attend the outing may contact Nancy Cape for more information. Surprise THEOS Members After enjoying a leisurely dinner at a local restaurant, theT.H.E.O.S. group went to the First United Methodist church. A surprise awaited the three ladies having February birthdays, as there was a lovely birthday cake, complete with lighted candles, to greet them, and everyone serenaded them with the birthday song: A newcomer joining the group was Marie Dowell, who received a warm welcome, as did Mrs. Pagast, a guest visiting from Germany. The grotp enjoyed games o ~^ei discussion, id off a pleasant and a which r< evening T.H.E.O.S. (To Help Each Other Smile) is non- denominational with no age restrictions, for widows and widowers. They meet the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m., at a local restaurant. Following dinner, they proceed to the First United Methodist church for an evening of fun and fellowship. The location of the restaurant is listed each month in the local newspapers under the Community Calendar. (Lyda) Radisch, Knoll avenue, McHenry. iHensH The folks of McHenry and neighboring areas have been very generous in assisting FISH to help people needing furniture for their homes. They are grateful, and their daily living is better because of many people's thought- fulness. T^iere is still a need for a metal frame, double bed size, living room couch and two smaller chairs, 90" gas stove, washer, dryer, man's dresser , refr igerator , freezer, double bed size sheets and pillow cases, an infant's dressing table, with or without drawers, for an expected little one, end tables, a living room lamp and a lawnmower Everything donated should be in good, clean, usable condition. Anyone having any of the requested items is urged to call FISH at 385-0258. The Pantry - a one-time emergency help, has been receiving many calls. Food is always needed and ap­ preciated. St. Mary's church collects food items the first Saturday and Sunday of each month during the Masses; the First Methodist church has certain Sundays for food collections; schools, scout troops, various other associations, individuals and groups also contribute food or money regularly. A check, money order or certificate from a super­ market can be mailed to FISH, P.O. Box 282, McHenry, 111., 80050. One can alao phone FISH for any information. ^ Everyone is asked to keep FISH in mind, so that help can be given to as many people as possible during these difficult times.
