Name Restaurant In Labor Act Violation The Timbers of Woodstock Restaurant, Inc., 1790 South Eastwood, Woodstock, has been named in a complaint filed by the U.S. Department of Labor in Federal District court, Chicago. The complaint alleges violations of the overtime pay, minimum wage, child labor, and record keeping provisions of the Fair Labor Standards act, which is the federal wage-hour law. William Van Zanen, chief of the Labor department's Regional Wage and Hour division said the department is seeking a permanent injunction to stop the alleged violations of the act. The court was also asked to award back pay, as found to be due, for distribution among the employees in volved. No amounts were specified in the complaint. Legal action followed an investigation of the business by the Labor department's Wage-Hour Area office, 6035 No. Northwest Highway, Chicago, under the super vision of Nancy Camacho, area director. The Fair Labor Standards act requires the payment of minimum wage rates; time and one-half pay for over time hours unless a specific exemption applies; the keeping of adequate records of employee wages and hours ; and res t r i c t s the employment of child labor. Capt. Hugh S. McGinley, Commander of District 15, Illinois State Police, stated, "House Bill 2708 exempts any truck properly registered in another state and displaying a valid registration plate, from the Illinois safety test requirements." "This means that troopers will have to pay particular attention to all types of v e h i c l e e q u i p m e n t violations, so that the second division vehicles traveling in Illinois do not become in such a state of disrepair as to become a hazard to the motoring public," McGinley added. Equipment checks set up at toll plazas by state police will be checking for worn tires, broken springs, lights not working and. flags and flares not carried in the vehicle as well as other equipment violations.
