PAGE 14 - PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY. MARCH 4.1981 Lakemoor-Lilymoor Area Margaret Karas 385-4934 Book Return Vandalized It took about eight years for the McHenry Nun da library on Lily Lake road to finally provide the service of a book drop for the con venience of patrons. Wed nesday, Feb. 25, some strong character with a B-B brain, decided to test his strength an the metal opening. Now the tax money-yours and mine-that would have been used to purchase additional tapes or records, must be used for book-return repair. Vandalism hurts everyone with not one positive gain. Next time, test your strength by crushing empty beer cans on the roadside and perhaps even picking them up and putting them in the garbage. RECUPERATING Mrs. Beulah Sutton of Fritzsche Estates, mother of Margaret Chambers, is home from St. Therese hospital. The McHenry Rescue Squad was called Friday Feb. 21, just at daybreak. She was taken to the McHenry hospital for temporary treatment, and later went to Waukegan. Jo Ann, Patti, April and Jim are all. happy that their grandmother is back home and feeling better. Curtis Freeman is home from Harvard hospital where he had surgery. His doctor brought him from the hospital to McHenry, where his wife Ruth picked Curtis up at the doctor's office. T^iat is really personalized service. CONDOLENCES John Lomax, a long-time resident of Lakemoor, died Feb. 25. He had been ill for the past year, with many hospital stays. Our sym pathy goes to Mrs. Lomax, who also has not been too well, and to sons Gene, John and Paul. CELEBRATIONS A n o t h e r b i r t h d a y celebrated on the third of February was Mike Hibbs, a frequent user of the McHenry Nunda library. March 9, marks another ^ear for Marguerite Nettles of LQymoor. Some of her friends call her "Daisy", but by whatever name only the best of everything is wished for this loving lady. Through her kindness and generosity, many of us have enjoyed her delicious pies and angel-food cakes. Mike Nejedly and Charles Wilson share the same birth- date, March 10. Enjoy! Brian and lily Ann Baker were married March 9~ 11747 so will be celebrating their wool-copper anniversary. Will Lily Ami be getting the sweater and Brian the pot? With both being very active in the Moose, a party should be in the offing. LITTER LIFE The Illinois Department of Conservation in its Feb. 16 O u t d o o r H i g h l i g h t magazine, gave an ex tremely important reason for recycling aluminum cans. Studies show that cans and tabs will take from 80 to 100 years to decompose. After we are long gone and d e c o m p o s e d , t h o s e DONAHUE FURNITURE Buy Now! Whimper, the library mascot, once more con fronted her regular an tagonist very early Saturday morning. The score is now 5 to 0, with Wliilmper receiving that number of tomato Juice and vinegar baths. A dog with her own library card, should really learn when she's outsmarted. Our nose knows, even If hers doesn't. CORRECTION In last week's short biographical sketch of the Lakemoor-Lilymoor area c o l u m n i s t , s e v e r a l misconceptions were made. Only two years were spent at McHenry high school, graduating elsewhere. And number one daughter has been called Margaret Frances, Cookie, Baby Margie, Maggie and Mag, but never "Meg". Omitted was the fact that I am a Christian, recognizing Jesus as the head of my life. Now I feel better. CONGRATULATIONS Academic excellence with the highest point average of 4.0 was achieved by Diane Odarczenko of Lakemoor. Diane is a senior at East campus, and is congratulated on her scholastic ability and the work she has done in school. COMMUNITY CALENDAR March 6. World Day of Prayer March 9. PAIN When one has watched a boy go through his school years, and develop into a m a t u r e c o m p a s s i o n a t e young man, one feels as if there is a joy and hope for the future. * Some of this Joy and hope was extinguished Monday evening, Feb. 23. Doug Robson, almost twenty years old, serving in the United States Navy, died five days after the "simple and, safe" procedure, an ap pendectomy, at the Great Lakes Naval hospital. Doug gave all who knew him a friendship and loyalty that is not often found. May the excrutiating pain felt by his mother Patti, sister Joel, and grandmother Eva Dingle, be washed away by the many many tears shed, and the innumerable prayers said.
