Lake Michigan Region 3 of Sweet Adelines will hold its annual chorus and quartet competition this year on March 20 and 21, in Grand Rapids, Mich. McHenry will present two songs in costume before judges in sound, music, expression and showmanship. Regional competition is the culmination of a year's work in these areas. McHenry county chapter, under the direction of Patricia Gattone, and assistant directors, Mary Jane Boelens, Pistakee, and Dottie Kaufmann, Wood­ stock, are current holders of the region's Small Chorus award won last year at the Palmer House, Chicago. Hopes run high this year for a Most Improved Chorus award and placement in the top 10. Twenty-three choruses will be competing in Region 3, which includes northern Illinois, northern Indiana and western Michigan. McHenry county chorus will be represented in the quartet competition T>y SECTION 1 Polenzani, Huntley, who sings tenor with the 1960 third place regional quartet winner, "Joyride". The dress rehearsal will feature not only the two competition numbers, but also a sampling of songs from the chorus* current repertoire.
