FIFTY YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of April 2, 1931) • M W Crouch is the new owner of the McHenry Greenhouses and that he will have flowers for every oc casion, beginning with Easter, will be good news to everyone in this vicinity Mr and Mrs. Crouch have just moved here from Rockford and are now occuping the Brefeld flat on Main street and expect to make this their home Mr. Crouch has purchased the greenhouses and three acres of land located on U S 12 just, south of McHenry, from Mrs. Michael McCarthy, whose husband had but started in this work at the time of his death. The Empire theater will reopen for the season under new management on Easter Sunday, with Cloice Wagner as manager. Mr. Wagner will show the latest and best pictures and plans to put on the most interesting programs for the people of McHenry and surrounding territory. The hospital wiil be opei ated on a 24-hour a day basis, with a full staff of nurses. It will be open to the public.
