The attractive, personable actress, star of NBC-TV's two-hour World Premiere Movie "Dial M For Murder," Thursday, April 9, has managed to temper the glitter and fantasy that is associated with show-business stardom, with the refreshing down-to-ea/th, head-on-straight wholesomeness of a small-town upbringing. Reflecting recently on her girlhood on the North Dakota prairie, Angie says, "I was definitely a tomboy. I enjoyed playing football." There were four girls and no sons in the family. "My poor father sure had his hands full with all those women," chuckles Angie who was born Angeline Brown. "But we did have a male dog, a mutt bulldog named 'Blacky.' I loved him." Angie Dickinson stars in NBC's remake "Dial M for Murder," April 9. Angie feels- that her rural roots provided her with the foundation for her being -^ known today among her friends and co workers as the type of honest, straightforward lady she is. "There's too much fantasy in the type of work we're in," explains the stunning performer. "To let it creep into our personal code for living would be unfortunate indeed." As for her role as Margot Wendice, wife and intend ed murder victim of a husband who has learned of her love affair with another man in NBC-TV's two-hour adap tation of the mystery classic, Angie comments, "There are few higher compliments for a performer than to be selected for a starring role in a classic drama that has endured over the years This story has been successful on Broadway, as a feature film directed by no less a talented director than Alfred Hitchcock and now. hopefully, that success will be realized in its television version. I'm excited and thrilled to be a part of it." Angie is in as much demand as ever but is still level headed enough to take time to pick and choose her assignments. "When I accept a part," she points out, "it's because it is special. I like to think that when people see me in a production, they'll feel it must be worth while." TV COMFULOO SCRVICft. INC
