Profile From Miss Burbank to "Aloha Paradise" The ever-popular Debbie Reynolds, who stars as Sydney Chase in ABC-TV's "Aloha Paradise," has suc ceeded in achieving major star status in all areas of show business. An MGM star and Academy Award nominee, she has endured the rigors of summer tent campaigns, headlined in leading nightclubs across the country, star red in her own television show and appeared as guest star on major network programs. She was born on April 1 in El Paso, Texas in 1932 and she and her family moved to Burbank, California, when she was 8 years-old Her success story began while she was still in high school Debbie entered and. won the "Miss Burbank" contest, after which she presid ed at a community celebration. The results proved to be far-reaching. One of the judges was a talent scout who was so impressed with her impersonation of Betty Hut- ton singing "My Rockin' Horse Ran Away," that he recommended her to Warner Brothers. < Debbie made her screen debut in "The Daughter of ~ Rosie O'Grady," but her first big role was in the MGM musical, "Three Little Words," in which she portrayed Helen Kane, the "boop-boop-a-doop girl" of the early '30s. Her performance led to an MGM contract and subsequent stardom. In the years that followed, she had more than 30 major films, including the classic "Singin' in the Rain." Her singing of popular music has earned her two gold records. Miss Reynolds is the mother of two children, Carrie and Todd. She is now most actively involved in a project close to her heart--the preservation of memorabilia from Hollywood's first half century of filmmaking. TV COMPUIOC KftVtCC* INC DAYTIME (Exc. Wed.)
