TREE PLANTING Arbor day has been celebrated the past week by many communities and people. A day set Aside for tree planting was begun in 1872, and has continued to this time, with emphasis on conservation. Over 12,000 trees have been planted this spring in Moraine Hills State Park, to our west and south. Wilfred Blake, with the Conservation department, has been in strumental in the planting of 3,000 white pines, cedars, oaks and other hardwoods, flowering trees and shrubs. This is really providing future genegations with the beauty of many kinds of trees, plus the life giving properties of our wooded plants. Have you planted a tree this spring? LAKEMOOR'S FUTURE An important open meeting will be held Monday May 18, for study and questions on the proposed Comprehensive Plan for the Village of Lakemoor. Chairman George Garbacz of the Planning Commission, urges every one in Lakemoor and surrounding areas to be present, as this plan will affect all of us in some way. Much thought and time has been put into this study in an effort to improve the future of our whole community. FAMILY WEEK For the second year^ McHenry County is recognizing the family by proclamation of "Family Celebration Week" May 3 to 11. With so much being printed and declared about the decline of the family in the United States, perhaps it is proper to publicly recognize this most im portant of relationships. What will your family be doing as a celebration during this week of togetherness? Let us all share in the special events, get togethers and fun times that are being planned for your family. Call me in time for next week's column. It is Very fitting that Family week includes May 10, Mother's day.
