PAGE 2t • PLAINDE ALEE - FRIDAY, MAY 8,1M1 SIXTH TOWN-PURSUING A TALENT (Continued from page 1) decided -- she would like to he a symphony performer Cathy is less decided, but is sure music will have a place in her adult life, if not as a career, then certainly as an avocation. She feels her experience as a member of the orchestra will help her. Sue admits to only one hour of rehearsal daily if her school load is heavy; otherwise she tries to get in as much as five hours. Cathy said she usually practices about an hour. The orchestra had its start about a year ago when parents in the Crystal Lake school system sought an outlet for their string playing youngsters after a referendum loss destroyed the orchestra program One observer stated she thought there would be a more selective process of gaining members as the orchestra grows and becomes more experienced. At this time, interest in pursuing a talent is a prime consideration. Sue and Cathy are sophomores at Marian Central. They are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Granger of 3006 W Mary lane and Mr. and Mrs. Donald , Doherty of 1410 N Green street, respectively Deanna Davis, a senior at .Johnsburg high school, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Davis of 6220 Barnard Mill road IN CONCERT (Continued from page 1) play a Haydn flute and oboe duet and Andrea Leslie, Woodstock, I^aura Emrich. Further in formation will appearffcthe following issues of the Plaindealer MUSIN' AND MEANDERIN' (Continued from page 1) Unique as the idea may seem to some, the gift for "her ducks" seemed as natural and thoughtful as any Mrs. Behnke could have imagined. Mother's day also brings to mind a Mom of another day With the death of Mildred Thompson Reese this week, memories stretched back to our childhood. Teenagers of the time found in Mrs. Thompson's Barbecue, located just across-the river, an appeal that fast food stands provide today. But there was a difference Mrs. Thompson greeted the friends of her daughter, Mildred, and others who visited her stand with a personal "hello". And the barbecues that came from her kitchen were spicy and delicious, and each one was injected with the same care and love found in the kitchens of Mothers whose teens frequented the business Other special Mothers there were, too, in yesterday's McHenry. And they are here today in large numbers -- Mothers who give more of themselves than any one person could be expected to give. Sunday is Mother's day If there is no longer a Mother in your life, find someone who fits the mold and treat her like the special person she is!
