McHenry. were married in Germany, May 6. 1921. They came to the United States in 1923 and made their home in Chicago In 1944. the couple moved to McHenry and managed the Oakmount Game club on River road for 21 years and then owned and operated the "Palace Recreation""' bowling alley on Green street for eight years. They retired in 1965 and moved to their present home, where much of their spare time has been devoted to the care and feeding of the ducks on the river The Behnkes have one son. Hans of Mount Dora. Fla.; a daughter. Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Hollander of McHenry . six grandchildren and two great­ grandchildren Saturday evening. May 2. to celebrate their sixtieth wedding anniversary. Mr and Mrs Behnke were guests of honor at the home of their friends. Slate Film Showing "Nan's Class", the definitive film on Lamaze, will be shown Friday, May 15. at 7:30 p.m., in the cafeteria of Memorial hospital for McHenry county, Woodstock* The film showing, a public education service sponsored by the McHenry - County Area Childbirth Educators (MCACE), will feature five prepared couples using the Lamaze techniques through their labor process. Crystal Lake, wearing a heart shaped amethyist ring which had belonged to her maternal grandmother, Dora Young. The bride, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence M. Young, 3002 S. Elder lane, McHenry, became the wife of Brian Michael Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Miller. 219 S. Barreville road. McHenry, on May 9. Father Joseph Kulak celebrated the 3 p.m liturgy amid a setting of blue and white silk roses and car­ nations at the altar, and pews decorated with white stephanotis on blue bows. "Sunrise. Sunset", "Wed­ ding Song", "If" and "linger Than" were sung by Roger Schiller The bride wore a gown of point d'esprit lace, fashioned with a romance neckline of illusion and schiffli em­ broidered lace, bishop sleeves, a pleated flounce and chapel length train. Her fingertip veil and blusher were secured to a Juliet cap of lace, trimmed with pearls She carried a cascade of white roses, stephanotis and blue baby's breath. A college friend of the bride, Julie Swore of Cedar Rapids. Iowa, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Judy Gertz of McHenry; Doreen Miller of McHenry, sister of the groom; Gail Dornstreich of Forestville, Calif.; April Dougherty of Harvard, sister of the bride; and Sandee Peterson of McHenry. Attendants were attired in dresses fashioned of powdered blue crepe with a romance neckline of illusion and schiffli lace. They carried baskets of blue and white silk flowers and halos of tiny blue rosebuds and angel's lace adorned their hair. The best man was Randy Schiller of Crystal Lake. Groomsmen were ,Bill Preston of Wonder Lake; the groom's brother, Kevin Miller. Steve Knox and Scott I^tzter, all of McHenry; Brett Decker of Salt Lake City, Utah and Ben Deitfch of Capron. III. The mother of the bride chose a saphire blue gown of chiffon with white peau d'onge lace trim, highlighted with cape sleeves and a sunburst neckline. An ice blue crepe gown with white lace ruffle and lace trim was the choice of the groom's mother. The bride and her mother made the flowers for the altar They were assisted by the groom's mother in making the flowers the at­ tendants carried and wore in their hair. The bride's aunt. Upon their ' return from a wedding trip to Salt Lake City, Utah, the newlyweds will reside at 87 Maude avenue. Fox Lake. III. The bride graduated from McHenry Community high school in 1978; attended the University of Dubuque. Dubuque, Iowa; and is currently an administrative assistant at Kemper In­ surance Co., Ijong Grove, III. The groom graduated from the same high school in 1977; attended Rock Valley college, Rockford, III. for two years; and is presently a third year apprentice electrician, working in Lake county. III. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents the evening before., the wedding. The bride was honored at five pre-nuptial showers, including one hosted by her grandmother. Doreen Miller; the third by Vi Ab- bink; the fourth by her co­ workers and the last by Sandee Peterson Women Of The Moose A highlight of the Academy of Friendship night meeting. May 5, was the Friendship Ring ceremony. Chairman Jane Roewer discussed her project, a Bakeless Bake Sale, which she said was going over very well. She introduced her committee and also in­ troduced her guest speaker. Past Deputy Grand Regent Carolyn Wendlee of Har­ vard, who talked about the Academy of Friendship. Ms. Roewer also in­ troduced three new mem bers, Pat Knapik, Marilyn Comstock and Lilyann Baker. The aides were Ila Hogan, Diane Smith and Doris Schabow. There were also five new enrolees. Sue Madey, Mary Lou Barry, Shirleann Krich, Betty Rimer and Peggy Pearson The new governor, Brian Baker, welcomed the new members and requested help throughout the coming year. He expressed his hopes that there will be a lot of cooperation between the men and women for the many upcoming functions of the year.
