V Wonder Lake Anne Sowers 653-9549 Applications Are Available Applications for girls who are interested in becoming the 1961 Miss Wonder Lake and who will represent Wonder Lake in the Miss McHenry County Queen contest, are now available. They may be picked up from Pat Letezia, contest chairman, at the Letezia building on Hancock drive. Particulars on contest rules can also be obtained. SWIMMING LESSONS Now that we have been having a few days of warm weather, it's time to start thinking of the annual Red Cross Swimming lessons co- sponsored by the Woman's club of Wonder Lake and the Kiwanis. Registration will take place both Saturday and Sunday, May 30 and 31, from 10a.m. to2 p.m. They will be held at Wonder Lake Hard­ ware, Hilltop Grocery and Sunset Grocery. It is important to take advantage of the registration days instead of waiting until it gets closer to the start of classes. Some of the classes might be filled after registration day. Classes being taught will be: Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Intermediate, and Swimmer. The Basic Water Safety course will be offered to those who are 11 years of age and are strong swim­ mers. Senior Life Saving may be taken by those who are 15 and older. The lessons will be held from July 13 to July 24. MEMBERSHIP DRIVE May has been declared membership month by the Wonder Lake Jaycees. This is a very active group, who, under the' leadership of Wayne Kreutzer, president, have organized many worth­ while activities. Their recent game flight was a success because of their hard work, the help of local merchants, along with the cooperation of those who attended. They will hold the Miss Wonder Lake contest which they have sponsored for the past two years. A bike-a-thon will also be coming up where-by they hope to raise money for a children's hospital. MOVING TO WOODSTOCK Catherine Omerzo, for­ merly of Wonder Lake, has now left our community for Woodstock to live in Waldon Oaks apartments. We will certainly miss her smiling face here at Wonder Lake, but I have a feeling she will be back with us at events like the Ski Show, to see her nephew Alan Mrowka perform/or at ball games, where she is always cheering on another nephew, Mark Jinga. Good luck in your new home, Catherine. V NATIVITY LUTHERAN ' CHURCH Since God doesn't take, a vacation, Sunday school will continue throughout the summer months as well. The summer quarter of the 1980- 81 Sunday school year will be June 14-Sept. 6. Nativity congratulated the new confirmands who were received into membership Sunday, April 26. They are: Kurt Bendig, Wayland Fees, Kelly Fornwall, Tracy Lienard, Connie Manke, Don Marke, Lisa Miller, Ruby Olson, Kurt Scheib and Jill Steljis. On Tuesday, May 19, from 7 - 9:30 p.m., the Hosanna group from Lutheran En­ counter will perform at All Saints Lutheran church in Fox Lake. Nativity's young people have been invited to join the presentation through song and puppetry. In April, Nativity welcomed into membership, Ron Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bendig.
