"We consider the addition of John Tesh to be a tremendous plus for CBS Sports," said Van Gor­ don Sauter, President of CBS Sports. "As a reporter for Channel 2 [WCBS-TV, the CBS owned station in New York], he proved again and again how to get to the heart of a story. He will be valuable in helping us cover topical sports stories." Tesh, a graduate of North Carolina State, joined WCBS-TV in New York as a correspondent in 1976after working as an anchorman, reporter, and producer in Raleigh, N.C., Orlando, Fla., and Nashville, Tenn. He spent two years in Nashville before coming to WCBS-TV. The consistent excellence of his reporting earned him a 1977 New York Area Emmy Award for his spot news coverage. He also won a second Emmy for that year's outstanding live broadcast of a breaking news event. A native of Garden City_pti Long Island, Tesh is a Juilliard-trained pianist.
