The event will begin at 7 p.m. Most valuable player awards in five sports - baseball, Softball, boys' and girls' track and tennis - will be presented. The space shuttle may start out as a spacefaring cargo ship, but by 1990 it will be taking passengers back and forth be­ tween Earth and space, accord­ ing to an advanced programs planner at the National Aero­ nautics and Space Administra­ tion. By then the fleet of shut­ tles could be making about SO flights a year. Special awards will go to the outstanding male and female senior athletes and thetopscholar-athletes. Members of the community are invited to participate with the celebrant, the Rev. James G. Gaynor. in remembering the deceased. The services will be held at the gravesite of Msgr Charles S. Nix. In case of inclement weather, the services will be held at the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption. WALT MARTIN The Elgin chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America will take the stage of the Hemmens auditorium in Elgin at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 22 and 23, to present their thirty-fifth consecutive annual concert of bar­ bershop harmony.
