He was born Feb. 27, 1R81, the son of Mathias and Katherine Steffens Schaefer. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Order of Foresters, Court 594; W.W. I Barracks, No. 1315; American Legion Post 491; Army Military Band in Europe. He was employed as a carpenter all his life with his brothers and Tonyan Construction Co., and a W.W. -I-^ggjrveteran. Mr. Schaefer was never married. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, including the Weingart, Comstock, Egan and Schaefer families.* He was preceded in death Josephine Weingart. MILDRED LEISTEN Mildred A. Leisten, 60, 3304 W. Fairway drivfe, McHenry, died May 21 at her home. She was born in Chicago, Oct. 2, 1920, the daughter of Charles and Marie Fibrikar Novak. She was a resident of McHenry 23 years, moving here from Chicago. On May 12, 1942 she married Henry J. Leisten, in Coupville, Wash., who survives. Other survivors, include four sons, Dennis, Jacksonville, N.C., Gerald, Oak Park, James and Richard, McHenry; three grandchildren, Lisa, David and Matthew Leisten; one sister, Mrs. Patrick(Gladys) O'Brien, Barrington. Mrs. Leisten was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and Altar society of St. Mary's. Visitation was held Sunday and Monday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Peter M. Justen and Son funeral home. Funeral Mass was offered Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption church with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer society. AILEEN SHERIFF Aileen Sheriff, 56, of 5822 W. West Lane, McCullom Lake, died suddenly May 25 in her home. She was born Sept. U. 1924, in the E. St. Louis. III., area to Theron and Mary Anderson Easterly. A resident of the Mc­ Cullom Lake area for 20 years, she was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church. She had been em­ ployed for over 14 years at the Oaks Mfg. Co. as a secretary in the I.B.M. computor area. She was born May 3, 1908, in Crystal Falls, Mich., the daughter of Joseph and Anna Kasa Kisiolek and had moved here from the nor­ thwest side of Chicago, 15 years ago? She was a member of the Homeowners Association of Whispering Hills. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. James (Margaret) Iwanski, McHenry; Mrs. Christina Murdock, Stone Mountain, Ga.; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Wenser, Arlington Heights; Mrs. Sue Walton, Hanover Park, and Mrs. Helen Lesniak, Pangburn, Ark. Her husband, Arthur A., preceded her in death Aug. 16, 1975; also one sister and one brother. Visitation was held Tuesday at the George Justen and Son funeral home. A funeral Mass will be offered at noon Wed­ nesday at St. John the Baptist church, Johnsburg, with burial the church cemetery. MORRIS E. ROGERS Morris E. Rogers, 74, died May 23 at his home, 4309 Front Royal avenue, Whispering Oaks. He was born in CrawfordsviUe, Ind., Mar. 28,1907, the son of John M. and Iva Fall Rogers. A retired journalist for the Chicago Drovers Journal, he moved to McHenry from Chicago 14 years ago. Survivors include his wife, Corrine, nee Hough, whom he married Sept. 29, 1934 in Chicago; two sons, John, Chicago, and Thomas, Orland Park; four grand­ children; one brother, John, of California. He was preceded in death by a sister. There was no visitation. Burial was private. Arrangements were made by the Peter M. Justen and Son funeral home. A memorial Mass will be offered at a later date to be announced at St. Mary of the Assumption church. Masses or memorials to the Arthritis fund may be made. ELSIE M. FISHER A resident of Wonder Lake, Elsie M. Fisher, 57, of 7602 Hancock drive, died May 23 at McHenry' hospital. She was born May 11,1924, in Chicago, the daughter of Paul and Margaret Nagel Gergits. The deceased was em­ ployed as sales clerk at the Wonder Lake True Value hardware store for 22 years. She was a member of the Wonder Lake Volunteer Firemen's auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Robert, whom she married May 17, 1947; one daughter, Mrs. Janice Bennett, and one son, James, both of Wonder Lake; two grandchildren, her mother, Margaret Gergits, Oak Lawn; two b r o t h e r s , W i l l i a m , Evergreen Park, and George, Buffalo Grove. She was preceded in death by a son. Robert, in 1948, and her father in 1969. Visitation was held Monday from 2 to 9 p.m at the Freund funeral home. Wonder Lake. A funeral Mass was offered at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at Christ the King Catholic fhurch with burial in the church cemetery.
