Lakeland Park ft Lakeland Shores Carol Cominsky 385-7246 Little League Starts Season The Lakeland Park Little League held registration a few weeks ago and enough boys and girls signed up to make up four teams. Practices are going on now and the first games will take place the first week of June. I should have the complete schedule in print next week. You can post it in a con venient (dace in your home so you can plan to attend a few games. The kids and managers really appreciate it when they have a lot of people sitting on the side lines cheering them on. SURPRISE VISIT I was expecting Karen Doessel to come over last Monday but what a shock I got when she brought along Marie Webb and her daughter, Mary Jean. The Webb family lived in Lakeland Park but moved to Las Vegas a year and a half ago. Wayne will be here in two weeks with the rest of their children. I guess Marie decided to get here early so she could get a head start on visiting her old friends. MORE SCOUT NEWS We reported the Brownie Flyup ceremony that took place Saturday, May 16, in last week's column. Pat Barnes came over with a list of the girls who will become Girl Scouts next year. They are Roxanne Wander, Marlene Jeschke, Tracy Pool, Heather Nelson, Missi Heim and Jenny Eiserman. These girls joined in on troop 464's final outing on May 19 to a local ice cream parlor. They managed to 'pig-out' like the Girl Scouts did the week before. The final word about Girl Scout troop 320 is that the girls are looking forward to a pizza and bowling party to be held in the near future. I would like to take this time to thank Pat Barnes for making sure I received all the scouting news this year. COLLEGE GRADUATE < Our first graduation report comes from the home of Don and Carol Humarin. Their daughter, Meg, received her BA in History at Northern Illinois university on Saturday, May 9. Barbara was already there because she also attends the university and daughters, Cathy Fuchs and her children, Greg and Donnie, and Donna Dobbertin were there with her children, Bobby and Jeff. Meg's fiance, Mark Redshaw, came with his parents; her girl friend, Caryn Hartman, also made the trip from Wonder Lake to share in the excitement. Her godparents, Fran and Jim Smith, had their son, Tim, graduating the same day at Northern so they were also on hand. The day began at 10 a.m. with a breakfast for the history department in the Pheasant Room in Holmes Student Center. The graduation began at noon then everyone went back to the Smiths' house for a party following the ceremony. Everyone returned to McHenry that evening totally exhausted and happy. Congratulations to Meg on a job well done and lots of luck in the future. BIRTHDAY GIRL This will be our last time to report on doings at the Albertson house before they move to Houston. Jim and Sally's daughter, Stefanie, turned 5 years old on May 6. Her brothers, Matthew and Sean, and sister,, Megan, went with them to aunt Dawn and uncle Duke LeDuc's house Sunday, May 10, to celebrate her birthday and Mother's day. Cousins Danny, Jeff and Michelle enjoyed having them all at their house. The other guests were aunt Renee and uncle Roger LeDuc with their children, Sarah, Todd and Marc, and grandma and grandpa LeDuc. The Albertsons will be leaving as soon as school ends next week and we wish them the best of luck. SCHOOL'S OUT School's out, teachers let the monkeys out! The teachers get to take a much needed and deserved rest while we mothers are blessed with our children all day. Most of my neighbors are groaning but I must be nuts because I'm looking forward to it. I get a break from having to worry if there's clean socks and joins for the next day, no making lunches the night before and we even get a little extra sleep in the morning. I would like to remind anyone driving through our sub division that the streets will be filled with children all day so please be extra careful. Here's to a happy and safe summer vacation for all of you. FIREWORKS I read that we might have a fireworks display held at Petersen Park on Sunday, July 5. I really hope we do since we haven't seen any since we moved here five years ago from Wheeling. I guess some people are concerned that Lakeland Park will have too much traffic going through and unnecessary littering. I'd like to get your opinion so we could present it to the people involved in making the final decision. HAPPY BIRTHDAY It's birthday time for Johnnie Hendle, Jennifer Worth, Linda Serpe, Brenda Kreutzer and Mike Mohawk on May 27. Tom Wagner has his day May 28. Keith Justen, Bernard Mayer and Rosalie Slonina will hear the birthday soag on the twenty* * ninth. Scott Stephenr turns 9 years old May 30 and he shares his day with Jim Dawson. Gail Hutt and Yvonne Arroya add another year May 31. On June 1 Sherie Ann Knaack turns 12, Matthew Schwartz will be 10 and George Lauer, Bob Rode and Julie Perry will be a year older. Best wishes to Cindy Kujak Bailey and Connie Bunting on June 2 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Agnes and Joe Prazak will be married 35 years on June 1. Cooked meats, poultry and fish are tasty in casseroles, creamed foods, hash, patties, pot pics, salads and sandwiches. Meat or poultry drippings and broth can add flavor to gravies, sauces, soups and stews. Cooked potatoes are delicious in fried or creamed potatoes, meat or potato pat ties, salads, soups, stews or chowders. Cooked vegetables, such as snap beans, uma beans, corn, peas and carrots can add their flavor and nutrients to casse roles, creamed dishes, meat pies, salads, sauces, scalloped vegetables, soups, stews and vegetables in cheese sauce.
