The dance will begin at 3:30 p.m. Five contestants have already filled out ap­ plications to be in the contest and more girls are en­ couraged to do so. A makeup expert will be giving poin­ ters to the girls and many other prizes will be awarded to the winner. Every one of the contestants will benefit from the experience. POSTMISTRESS RECOVERING If you have dropped by the Post Office lately, I'm sure you noticed that one of the familiar faces has been missing. Lorraine Murphy, our Postmistress, underwent knee surgery in May and is now home recuperating, hoping to be off her walker soon. This resulted from an accident some time ago when she broke her leg which had been bothering, her ever since. Now she should be as good as new and back to the Post Office soon. HOLD ELECTIONS The American Legion Post 1109 held its election of of­ ficers at the June 16 meeting. The men coming in as new officers are com­ mander, Robert Blatzheim; senior vice commander, James Jeffery; finance officer. James Nelson; service officer, Vic Hunt; adjutant, John Gleason; chaplain, Roger Sutton; and sergeant at arms, Thomas Walker. Those elected to the Executive Board are: Robert Blatzheim. James Jeffery, Vic Hunt, John Gleason, Thomas Walker and William Benedict. The American Legion Post 1169 Auxiliary held its election June 10. Those elected are president, Bernice Petersen; first vice- president. Clara Jones; second vice-president. Marie Bendl; treasurer, Nancy Benedict; secretary, Vickie Gleason; chaplain, Doris Jeffery; and sergeant at arms, Kathy Powers. Cake and coffee was served after the meeting. The Legion would like to remind everyone of the fireworks to be held Friday evening, July 3. The Jaycees, along with the men of the Legion, have begun collecting, door-to-door to help defray the cost of the fireworks. They say this will be the best display ever. The auxiliary would like to wish the following Legion people "Happy Birthday" during the month of June: Kathy Powers, Pete Bendl, Jim Jeffery, And a junior auxiliary member, Cindy Olson, who was 12 years old June 17. TOPS RUMMAGE SALE The members of TOPS will be holding a rummage sale in the parking lot of Dusty's Pizza June 26, 27 and 28 from 9 a m -4:30 p.m. Since they are a non-profit organization, they rfced resources for some of their activities and this will be their main fund raiser. Many articles have been donated by their members. TT>e antique show at the McHenry County fair will again offer fair-goers a wide variety of antiques to see. Judging will take place Wednesday morning.
