TEXAS NEWS We received news from way down Texas way from Bev and Chuck Ackerman, former Ringwood residents. Seems that Bev and Chuck had company, the Tex (Swede) Bakers, also former Ringwood residents who moved to California, but were visiting in Texas. The Bakers spent five fun- packed days with the Ackermans. They went Texas puking" and dan cing, had a fish dry, and did a lot of sightseeing. Bev says. "We've sure had our share of rain, you just can't believe how it rains- just like out of a bucket for hours. Ordinary streets turn into rivers. During school down here they have rain days instead of snow days. "There are flash floods that have to be seen before people learn to respect them That's why a lot of people died a few weeks ago. Many of them weren't Texans and they just didn't expect or dinary streets to turn into rivers. People have even been washed off of interstate 35 and there were several trailers overturned in a nearby trailer park. One thing though from all this rain, it will be a good cotton crop this year." Their three grandsons are growing like weeds and, of course. grandma and grandpa are helping to spoil them. They send greetings to all from Texas "50 IS NIFTY" Friends, relatives and neighbors gathered at the home of Bob and Martha Betts Saturday, June 20. to help Martha celebrate her 50th birthday.
