Mrs. Liponski generously soit HP two new Junior memberships • for Karton and Karina, her two dogs. How about that? A letter sent to HP from Mrs. Robert Covalt stated that the family, including the dog, were so pleased that a young boy took time to pick up an injured cat, which was treated, taken to an HP foster home and put up for adotpion. The Covalts have the cat and are glad there are caring people such as those who saved him for them. All pet adoptions must be validated by the signing of a contract along with the adoption fee which includes the cost of the spay or neuter surgery from a vet of HP's choice or a deduction from the cost of the surgery if done by a vet of your choice. Award Winner Demolition Derby At County Fair Aug. 7, 9 Twice as much fun and excitement-the famous na tionwide Demolition derby is coming to the McHenry County fair for two evenings instead of one. Per formances will be at the grandstand on the fairgrounds Friday, Aug. 7, and Sunday, Ai^. 9, at 7:30 p.m. Men and women with plenty of nerve and a lust for thrills will stage deliberate crashes and compete for cash prizes and trophies. Local participants must supply their own cars. The car must be equipped with a safety belt and the driver must wear an approved crash helmet. When the green flag falls, the race becomes a highway crowded with crazy "Sunday drivers". The cars crash, smash and sometimes turn over until the competition becomes a dual between the two surviving drivers. Then it is a fight to the finish. Students Give Help To Turning Point Several Marian Central high school students recently had the opportunity to c o m b i n e c l a s s r o o m knowledge with practical experience. The students, under the guidance of art teacher, Mrs. Charlotte Lieczynski, completed a series of publicity materials for Turning Point, Inc. Cheryl Graves, Harvard, created the illustrations for a tri-fold pamphlet outlining the purpose and services of turning Point. A newspaper display ad was designed by Marge Bokowy, Marengo. The ad will be used to publicize the services of Turning Point throughout the McHenry county area. The cooperative efforts of Mike Eisele, McHenry and Paul Olazak, Crystal Lake, produced a poster design for the 24-hour Family Stress Line sponsored by Turning Point. A spokesperson for Tur ning Point commended the students' work for the sensitivity and creativity displayed. Turning Point commended Mrs. Lieczynski for providing a unique op portunity for her students with community service. .
