The new queen, to be chosen by vote of the county's 1,129 4- H Club members, will be announced during 4-H Night Thursday, Aug. 6. Following are the queen candidates: Linda Borhart, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Borhart of Huntley, and a nine-year member of Huntley Harvesters and Cloverleaf Boosters. Penny Jeffers, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burl Jeffers of Harvard, and a 10-year member of Dunham B Sharps. Debbie Kuhlman, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kuhlman of Hebron, and an eight-year member of Hebron Helping Hands and Hebron 4-H'ers. Sue Malenius, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Malenius of McHenry, and a six-year member of Lincoln Cloverleafs. Jeanette May, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis May of McHenry, and a nine-year member of Lincoln Cloverleafs. s crown Vicky Schoenbeck, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schoenbeck of Richmond, and a nine-year member of Hebron Helping Hands and Hebron 4- H'ers. Learning skills that will help them in the future and making lasting friend­ ships are among the benefits cited "by the candidates in an appraisal of their 4-H years. "4-H gives you the building blocks to strengthen your character and prepare yourself for adulthood," Malenius said. "4-H allows you to build confidence in yourself through activities like public speaking. Throughout your 4-H work, you are given a chance to express yourself as you wish. All this is offered to the person willing to accept the challenge and work to his fullest."
