Here are those reports: Queen candidates SUE MALENIUS, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Malenius of McHenry, is a six-year member of Lincoln Cloverleafs. "I've learned that 4-H is rewarding in many ways. First of all, 4-H is fun. Not only the various activities, but also the lasting friendships that make 4-H a source of enjoyment. There is also the feeling of accomplishment when you have finished your project and hold your ribbon in your hand. "However, these are not the most important rewards 4-H offers. 4-H gives you the building blocks to strengthen your character and prepare you for adulthood. Through your projects, 4-H allows you to discover your interests and improve your abilities. "Although your nerves may be put to test, 4-H allows you to build confidence in yourself through activities like public speaking. Through your 4-H work, you are given the chance to express yourself as you wish. All of this is of fered to the 4-H'er who is willing to accept the challenge and work to his fullest potential. "With the qualities of leadership, confidence and capability, there is nothing you cannot do." JEANETTE MAY, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis May of McHenry, is a nine-year member of the Lincoln Cloverleafs. "4-H is so much more than a club ... it's a world. 4-H opens the door to so many experiences in growing and learning and fun. My projects are mostly arts and crafts, along with leadership, cat care, foods and com munications. "Without 4-H I would not have gone to 4-H teen camp, known what it is like to search a woods for two hours in the middle of the night for two campers that weren't really missing, nor felt the fear of speaking before a large group of people. 4-H holds every opportunity a young person could desire, and all you have to do is go after it." VICKY SCHOENBECK, 17, daughter of Robert Schoenbeck of Richmond, is a nine-year member of Hebron Helping Hands and Hebron 4-H'ers. "I've learned many skills that will help me in the future through my projects and rewarding experiences. Some of my projects include sheep, beef, foods, sewing, home furnishing, communications and indoor gardening. I have participated in a number of club, county and state activities, such as state 4-H Conference, public speaking, Share-the-Fun, dress revue, livestock judging team, softball and many workshops. "Through 4-H I found that by working together everyone benefits, and new acquaintances become lasting friend ships. 4-H has taught me many wor thwhile things that I will carry with me throughout my life, such as respon- siblity, citizenship, leadership and respect toward other people. 4-H has helped me shape my life and influence me to make by best better." DEBBIE KUHLMAN, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kuhlman, Hebron, is an eight-year member of Hebron Helping Hands and Hebron 4-H'ers. "My projects have mainly been beef, swine, sewing, knitting and baking. I have discovered many opportunities to learn new skills and to express myself through unique projects and various activities. Some of the activities include general projects and food demon strations, Teen Scene staff, and meat, livestock and poultry judging in county, regional, state and national com petition. "I've taken part in Share-the-Fun for several years. I have held all offices in my club and been involved in planning many activities. In the federation I served as secretary and am currently the vice president. I have served on many county committees. "Through 4-H I made many lasting friendships and I have been able to know myself better and take pride in everything I do. 4-H has taught me there is no limit to the things you can achieve. I have learned to take responsibility and to lead others. "But 4-H is not all work. You can travel to the state lair and the University of Illinois where you meet people from all around the state who share similar interests. 4-H has prepared me for growing up, but most of all 4-H has meant to me friendship and fun."
