The first session will be Thursday, Aug. 90, at 9:90 a.m. in the Council chambers of city hall, Green street. It will last until noon. It is not necessary to be a member of the Senior Citizens to attend. The second session of the sales will be Thursday, Aug. 27, at 10 a.m. and the third and final class will be Thursday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m. Jansen suggests that having a birthday ! Nov. 1 take the course now. This is a free service by the McHenry Citizens club in ottered Senior conjunction with the Secretary of S tate's office. The course he ips to refresh the memory o» traffic signs, traffic regulations and other important and new facts enabling senior citizens to more easily pasti the written test. Permit Good \ For One Year The second board meeting of the- month was held Tuesday, July 28, at8 p.m. at the bea«h house and it was a short meeting. Someone from the audience asked how long a building permit is good for. A permit is good for one year ana may be secured from trustee Tom Farrell. Village board meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month and they are very informative. If you have any questions or just want to see how the village is run, come on down and meet your neighbors. VISITIWG Wally and Marie Hojnacki from Seminole, Fla., are here visiting their daughter, Marie McKim and her husband, Allen. Wally and Marie are past long-time village residents. They have been here for a month now and have already been up to Phillips, Wis., visiting their granddaughter Dawn Branson, husband Tom and great-grandson Tommy, who I might add, are bade here visiting also. We hope Wally and Marie have a continued nice visit with all their families. FLEA MARKET AND CRAFT FAIR The Beach Gals' second flea market, craft fair and bake sale will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, at the beach house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you wish to enter, please contact Chris, 385- 9087 or Laurie, 344-3884 as soon as possible. Your entry fee will provide the table space for your items, city-wide ad­ vertisement, and a pleasant day for all. All entries and fees should be in by August. Beach Gals' proceeds of the bake sate and table rental go to the children of the village. BEACH SAMPLING Water samples collected from swimming beaches by the McHenry County Department of Health July 27 and 28 were obtained from several beaches on the Fox river and from some of the lakes in the county. Those beaches at which there have been two consecutive un­ satisfactory samples and which the Department will be posting as unsafe for swimming include Pistakee bay, Village of Sunnyside, Fox River, Riverside drive beach and McHenry Shores, Fox river; Village of Mc- cullom Lake, West Shore beach and Herzog beach, McCullom Lake; Lookout Point and Wonder View, Wonder Lake. SERVICE NEWS Ends Training At Ft. Knox Patricia J. Porter, of 2912 S. Riverside, McHenry, recently completed training in fundamental military skills at the Army ROTC basic camp at Fort Knox, Ky. The basic camp is designed to give junior college graduates and college sophomores who have not taken ROTC courses the chance to enter the program. The camp also qualifies high school graduates for the ROTC program at any of the nation's six military junior colleges. During the encampment, cadets received training in basic rifle marksmanship, military drill and c e r e m o n i e s , c o m ­ munications and individual and small unit tactics. 4400 w.
