August 21,1981) No. 810397 ASCS Provides List Of Federal Crop Insurers Farmers now can call or visit the McHenry County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service and get a list of local Federal Crop Insurance represen tatives. County ASCS of ficial, Susan A. Maraccini, says the agents will explain how farmers can receive insurance protection for their crops. Farmers may also call 1- 800-447-4700, a toll-free number, to get names of local agents who sell all-risk insurance. Sept. 30 is the last day for winter wheat and barley producers in Mc Henry county to sign up for the insurance. Federal Crop Insurance is available in every county previously covered by the ASCS disaster payment program. USD A urges farmers to sign up for the insurance coverage before the deadline and cautions them not to expect disaster program protection to be available next year. According to M a r a c c i n i , c u r r e n t legislation being cosidered b y C o n g r e s s c a l l s f o r disaster payments only in those counties where the Federal Crop Insurance is not available. The future plans of the Federal Crop Insurance corporation is to establish insurance coverage on most agricultural crops. The expansion is part of an overall effort to assure virtually every farmer the opportunity to take ad vantage of the all-risk crop insurance program. USDA statistics show that each year one of every 14 planted acres never makes it to harvest. The Federal Crop In surance is a self-help a s s i s t a n c e p r o g r a m designed to provide e c o n o m i c p r o t e c t i o n f o r farm families. Next year, the coverage will be available nationwide on corn, wheat, cotton, grain sorghum, rice and barley - the six major crops. Major producing areas growing 22 other crops also will be covered. The list of agents authorized by FCIC to sell all-risk crop insurance may be obtained by calling at 338- 0444, or visiting the county ASCS office, 1143 North Seminary Avenue, Wood stock. Deaths GILBERT ANDERSON Gilbert H. Anderson, III, 33, 5000 W. Fountain lane, McHenry, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, as the result of a motorcycle accident on route 31 and Virginia street. He was born Nov. 29,1947, in Wheeling township, to Gilbert and Martha Wiese Anderson, Jr. Mr. Anderson was a five- year resident of the McHenry area, formerly of Mt. Prospect. He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, McHenry; a machinist for Wabash Tape Co., Huntley the last two years; and had been employed as a machinist for Skil Co., Wheeling prior to that time. He also served with the marines in Viet Nam. On June 6, 1970, in Wheeling, he married Patricia nee Hammer, who survives. Other survivors are a daughter, Heather and a son Kevin, both at home. Also surviving are his parents, a sister Karen Anderson and a brother John A n d e r s o n , a l l o f M t . Prospect. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, 10 a.m., at the George R. Jus ten & Son funeral home, by the Reverend Paul Tolo of Redeemer Lutheran church, Woodstock, with interment in Windridge cemetery, Cary. Wehrmann of McHenry, died at Lutheran General hospital Wea nesday, Aug. 19, at the age of 87. He was born April 4,1894 in Oak Park, 111. A retired self-employed florist, Mr. Wehrmann is survived by his wife Florence; two sons, Robert and Glenn; a daughter Marilyn Hahn; 10 grand children} two great grandchildren and a brother Edward.
