Ringwood News Doris Low 653-9262 Katy Christopher 385-8037 Church Slates Fall Schedule The United Methodist Women will hold its first meeting of the fall season .Thursday, Sept. 10, at the home of Linda Adams. There will be & dessert or salad served at 12:30 followed by the meeting. This organization is open to all the ladies of the church. Sunday, Sept. 13, will begin church school classes for children from three years through sixth grade. Children will attend the first part of morning worship with their parents and then be excused to go to their classroom. Worship service at Ringwood begins at 9:15 a.m. Also, on Sept. 13, there will be a reception for Sandra Hoke, the new Elgin District Superintendent of United Methodist church. This will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Crystal Lake U.M. church. We hope many of our people will be able to attend. SEMI-ANNUAL RUMMAGE SALE Perhaps some of you have started your fall housecleaning and if so, we hope you will keep in mind the Ringwood church will be holding its fall rummage sale Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17. The ladies would appreciate receiving any donations of good, resalable items including tools, hardware, kitchen utensils, as well as clothing. We will have more in­ formation on this event at a later date. CHURCH BENEFIT On Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m., there will be a household cleaning products demon stration at the Ringwood church This party is sponsored by Edith Harrison, with a percentage of the proceeds going to the Ringwood church. GOD BLESS The McHenry County Professional Nurses association will hold its first meeting of the year at the Crystal Lake Ambutal Sept. 9, at 7:30 p.m. The meeting is open to any R.N., L.P.N., or student nurse who is living in or working in McHenry county. Lynn Lewis, R.N., M.S.N , will present a program on "Depression" at the first meeting. She has previously worked with the Family Service and Mental Health Center and is presently studying for a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. LIFT BOYCOTT Last October the Crystal Lake Church of Christ an­ nounced that it was par­ ticipating in a nationwide boycott of the products of two major companies in an attempt to improve the quality of TV programming At that • time these two companies were the major advertisers on the most offensive TV programs. The boycott was called by the Joelton (T-enn.) Church of Christ and was given the name "Clean-Up TV cam­ paign." The Joelton church has now reported that the two companies have with­ drawn their advertising from the objectionable shows. The Crystal Lkke congregation, with local membership, likewise has urged all who participated in the boycott to bring it to an end. Anders Hanson, a 'Lutheran missionary to China since 1946, will be special guest preacher at the Lutheran Church of All Saints in Fox Lake on State Park road, just north of Route 12, Sept. 13. Missionary Hanson will preach at both the 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. services of worship at the church, and will present a selection of slides from his work in China during the 9:15 a.m. Sunday school hour on that day.
