Lakemoor-Lilymoor Area Margaret Karas 385-4934 Board Plans Fund Raiser Last Thursday's meeting of the Lakemoor village board was held in the first floor meeting room of the municipal building, providing more seating space and easier ac cessibility for the han dicapped. A large number of Lakemoor residents were at the meeting, to hear of the board's plans for future methods of raising funds to pay the raising sewer costs. The idea of metering the water in private wells met with opposition from those in attendance. It was explained that this was just an area for investigation, to be perhaps used in two or three years in the future. A petition signed by 90 Lakemoor residents strongly opposing the metering was presented to and read by Village President, Richard Hyatt. In other business, the resignation of Trustee William Sinkler was regretfully accepted. Mrs. Carol Schmidt, former village clerk, was appointed to fill the vacancy and was sworn in as trustee of Lakemoor. At the next meeting, Oct. 10, a public hearing will be held in regard to the suspension of Police Chief Richard Adornetto. This section of the meeting will begin at 9 p.m. It is good to see so many people interested enough in improving their community to come to meetings and share their ideas. The purpose of government is to add to the well being of HOMEMADE SPECIALTIES CELEBRATIONS Sundae Morrison of Lakemoor will be receiving happy birthday wishes from her family and friends on October first. Deidre Kent, writer of poetry from Lilymoor, has the same birth date. Allison Elizabeth Hueckstaedt will have four candles to blow out on Oct. 2. Scott Meyer and Terry Greene share Oct. 4 as their birthdate. Celebrating on the fifth are Bill Freeman, Joseph Yerkes and Vickie Mayo. Anniversary wishes go to Toni and Joe Yerkes, also on the fifth. Joe has no excuse for not remembering his anniversary if he expects to get a birthday present. Oct. 6 is the date Alma and Bud Hueckstaedt exchanged vows a few years ago. The results of that marriage are four children, and at last count ten grandchildren. May they always enjoy each other and their offspring. LAST SUMMER PICNIC , Doug Alheit of Lily Lake road, hosted an "end of the summer" picnic on Satur day, Sept. 19. Bobbie Miller and Carl Stromley were in charge of the barbecued chicken, roast corn and wild rice. Frank and Bruno prepared the fish, including the 21 pound Coho that had been caught by Dougie. Friends and neighbors en joyed this last outing of summer, 1981. BIRTHDAY PARTY Brian McCoy of Lakemoor will always remember his eighth birthday, Sept. 19. He went bowling. He had such a good experience taht he joined a bowling league. Wishing to share his hap piness, he talked brother, Steve, into joining also. Brothers who bowl together spend their spare time in strikes. Right? , FLEAS Flea collars, flea powders, baths not withstanding, our furry friends are still host to them. Have you ever wat ched how far a flea can jump? Considering their minute size, the tremendous strength displayed in the height and width of their leaps is truly incredible. There were some concerned citizens present for the meeting. Many of you may have noticed how nice the village is looking lately. The reason is because the owners of some of the overgrown lots have been cleaning up their property along with the village cleaning up their own lots. I have heard many positive comments on their ap pearance. I'm sure the people living next to these lots are enjoying the dif ference. It all helps to im prove the village, and make it a safer place to live. Our ESDA (Emergency Services Disaster Agency) coordinator Gene Frost was present to tell us about the meetings and courses he has been attending. Gene will be working with Mr. Shay from McHenry to keep us up to date on matters. The village road work will be starting within the next couple of weeks. As everyone knows, there were delays in construction work, but thank goodness that has been remedied and our road work will be starting. I stated before how the heavy rains have done much damage io roads along with trucks and heavy equip ment. We can all hop to keep our streets from breaking up anymore by driving within the speed limit, by not cutting corners and by not driving on the already torn up road edges. You may not think it sounds like much, but if drivers pitch in and help, it will make a dif ference. Ron Krumsee is our road trustee, and I per sonally believe he has always done a super job. People from the audience brought up complaints again about dogs and stray cats running loose. Residents, your dogs must be kept on your own property or leashed while you walk them. Most cats are house cats and so, kept in the house. If your cat has a litter that you do not want or you find that you no longer want your cat, then call an animal shelter rather than throwing the animal out. Your neigh bors will be much happier that way. BIRTHDAYS Happy birthday wishes go this week to the following people; Dan Ctirran celebrates his special day on Sept. 30; Gloria Grim, Greg Beck and Jeffrey Krumsee turning five on Oct 1; Kathy Kalsch's special day is Oct. 2; Jeanette Straumann and Diane Odom share Oct. 3; Cheryl Thacker and Andy Mass share Oct. 4; Gene Huff and Scott Loewe tur ning six on Oct 6; Wayne Blake on Oct. 7; and Chris White and Bill Cross on Oct. 8.
