BAPTISM Sunday, Oct. 11, Christen Joy Bartel, daughter of Frank and Johann Bartel was baptized at Saint Patrick's church in McHenry. Christen's god parents are Andy Kolton and Bonnie Bartel. Also attending the ceremony as very special guests were Christen's grandparents, who came all the way from Florida, and were seeing granddaughter Christen for the very first time! After the baptism, a party was held in Christen Joy's honor, at the Bartel's for over 60 guests. Adding to this special day, was the fact that on the way home from church, mom Johann noticed Christen's very first tooth! God bless Christen Joy, and may he always watch over her! BIRTHDAY A belated happy birthday to a cute little girl, Kendra Kumpula, who turned five years old earlier this month. We hope your next year will be filled with fun and hap piness! JOINS TUMBLEWEEDS One of our younger village residents, Allison Heald, daughter of Fred and Mary Lou Heald was recently chosen to become a member of the McHenry County Tumbleweeds. The Tumbleweeds are a power tumbling troupe, that compete both locally and nationally. Once a year tryouts are held to add new members, and Allison was chosen along with 30 other young girls from all over the county. What an honor for her, and sheDs anticipating their first competition coming ^up on Oct. 31. Congratulations to Allison, and best of luck ahead! now sTHi On a cold day why does one not hear the buzz of insects, so common in warmer weather? Practically all insects die or become dormant when the temperature drops below a certain point. The experts have figured ,out the exact temperatures at which bees, bugs and other creatures cease all movement. Bees, for example, will cease their activities at about 50 degrees. If the tempera ture is less than 50 degrees you will not hear or see a bee. The exact degree at! which other insects and bugs become inactive has been a subject of careful study, which seems to prove that the behavior pattern seldom, if ever, varies. Natures laws, then, are better obeyed than most of man's. • » • * The individual does not have to advertise his, or her, religion in big type. We welcome your Spiess Charge. Visa and MasterCard.'
