Clarence Regner Highway commissioner; Ted Pitzen assessor-elect; Albert Adams, supervisor; Tom Birmingham, clerk; Bruce Novak, Carol Perschke and Howard Snyder, trustees, all from McHenry township were among the ap proximate 2,000 delegates and guests who attended the 72nd annual Educational conference sponsored by the Township Officials of Illinois (T.O.I.). Among the featured speakers were former Illinois Governor William G. Stratton and Edward Krueger, president of the National Association of Towns and Townships. Speaker for the conference's annual banquet was former Senator Adlai Stevenson. The association (T.O.I.) is comprised of nearly 12,000 officials from the 1,432 townships in 85 counties across the state. Member townships receive in formation concerning legislative activities, proper functions of their offices and development of new programs for that unit of government. T.O.I, also acts as a clearing house for in formation for both state and federal legislators. General and division sessions of the 74-year-old state organization were designed to give the delegates a new insight on laws affecting townshi officials, the need for ficient, accurate property assessment, budget and levy procedures, new develop ments in the administration of township general assistance, and a report on national legislation affecting Illinois townships. These donations might be used to build community facilities, preserve natural areas, or develop land suitable for recreational areas. Due to a lack of knowledge about land preservation tools and techniques or the non-existence of community or county foundations to handle these donations, however, opportunities may be lost. In addition, the Heritage Conservation and Recreation service of the U.S. Department of the Interior which previously assisted individuals in such matters has succumbed to the federal budget cuts. To help individuals and community groups set up local foundations and facilitate their receiving of land and money for local projects, the McHenry County Cooperative Ex- I CompUt# Payroll Scrvic* T! t| From Time Card To W-2, j • Including All Government Forms! ] H In-House Computer - We Deliver j I "WE OFFER LOCAL SERVICE" - | HARMS ACCOUNTING | 385-3074 ' 3 WE SPECIALIZE IN PAYROLL : tension service, Con servation district, and Historical society are planning a TeleNet series on opportunities for land and financial donations.* This three-session series will be taught from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 24 and from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 1 and 15 at the McHenry county Farm Bureau in Woodstock.
