Computer Simulates Disorder To gain a better understand ing of what causes mitral valve prolapse, a common heart dis order, researchers have designed a computer model of the mal function. During prolapse, the mitral valve suddenly balloons back into the upper left chamb er of the heart and in extreme cases, ruptures. The computer model can simulate millions of actions per second that might take hours to occur in the hu man heart. JOHN L.
