Sunnyside Area Betty Messer 344-2494 1 Village Hall Has Opened The long awaited Sun nyside Village Hall opened its doors for the first time this week. A special meeting was held on the fourteenth of December and on Dec. 15 the first meeting of the village board was held in the new hall. Henceforth all meetings will be conducted in the hall Due to the holiday season which is now upon us, dedication of the building has been delayed until Spring. Plus, there is always the possibility of bad weather. Though the interior is completed, there will be work done outside in the Spring and better parking area and landscaping will be done then. The funds to start the village hall started in January 1978. Remember the "Blizzard of "78"? That was when the Sunnyside Women's auxiliary spon sored a Snowmobile Rally and funds were donated to the Village Building funds. And now that long awaited dream has become a reality. Many people worked hard on the rally to make it the success it was. The names of those people will be com memorated on a plaque that will hang in the Ullage hall. Mayor Bill Mitchell has artist Mike Cajthamel doing the plaque. On it will be the names of over 100 people who worked to make the Snowmobile Rally a success. Mike has promised to have the plaque done in time for the Dec. 15 meeting. We're all very grateful for all the hard work that goes into such an endeavor and I'm anxious to see it myself. An example of Mike's work can be seen on the new sign on Wilmot road as you enter the village, that welcomes one and all to the Village of Sunnyside. The village was 25 years old last April. VEHICLE STICKERS It's that time of year again when the current Village of Sunnyside' vehide stickers are on sale. Also cars, trucks, RV's, motorcycles must have the current sticker. They must be displayed in a conspicuous place on the vehicle. Failure to do so will result in a ticket and fine. Required are year and make of vehicle and current state license. Stickers are available from the village clerk Betty Messer, 1405 Bayview lane. For more information call 385-6023. Deadline for displaying the 1982 sticker is Feb. 15. BIRTHDAYS Celebrating birthdays this week are Kate Eichhorn whose day was Dec. 13: Catherine Fredricks, Dec. 14; and Sherry Johnson Dec. 15. Linda Sandell will celebrate Dec. 18; Louise Kusrath, Dec. 19; and Jackie Sandell will be three Dec. 20. Best wishes to you all for a happy day and many more to come. NEW ARRIVAL On Wednesday, Nov. 25, little Jacqueline Christine arrived weighing 6 lbs., 12Vi oz. Jackie is the daughter of Denise and Rikki Mitchell of Ingleside. She was welcomed home by her sister Angela. Proud grandparents are Donna and Bill Mitchell of 4017 Wilmot road and Darlene and Ed Heim of Sunnyside drive; all of Sunnyside. Also welcoming the new arrival were aunts Karen, and Kathy, uncle Bill and several cousins. ACCIDENT John Miedzianowski of 1506 Sunnyside drive, was working on his car with his son John Jr., when the car slipped off the jack pinning John underneath. Jqhn Jr., quckly got the car raised so his Dad could slide out from under, saving his Dad from more serious injury. John Sr., was taken by the Johnsburg rescue squad to the McHenry emergency room. After a thorough checkup and several stitches to close a gash in the fore head, John was released. He has been home this past week recovering from the trauma. All John's friends are glad that he's doing well after what could have been a much more serious accident. John is a trustee for the village and police com missioner. Express Mail Best For Late Senders Express mail is now the best answer for those who have not mailed their Christmas gifts, Postmaster Smith of the McHenry post office advised this week. The postal services guaranteed, overnight delivery service is available to most major cities nationwide. "Sending a package even by one of our other priority options could result in disappointing someone if, at this late date, the item has to go a long distance," Smith said. He noted that with express mail, the higher cost is offset by the expedited nature of the service, a money back guarantee, and a lower cost per pound as the weight of the parcel increases. "Best of all" he said, "There is no additional charge for delivery on Sunday, or on Friday-Christmas day." "If its mailed by 5 p.m. one day," the postal official said, "Delivery by 3 p.m. the next day is guaranteed, or you get your money back. "Express mail has a service record of over 99 percent delivered within 24 hours". Items weighing up to 70 pounds can be sent by ex press mail, and fees include merchandise insurance coverage up to $500.
