PAGE 22 (spQRTS PRQTO New college poll spawned by CBS New York--Twenty coaches selected from the nation's top National Collegiate Athletic Association basketball powers will vote for the top 10 college basketball teams in the country in the new CBS Sports/National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Poll, the results of which will be broadcast at halftime each,week on CBS Sports' coverage of NCAA basketball games. The national panel, selected by CBS Sports and approved by the NABC to represent the four regions as defined by the NCAA Basketball Championship--five coaches from the East, five from the Mideast, five from the Midwest and five from the West--will be polled each week for their selections of the national top 10 teams, and top five in their particular region. The na­ tional top 10 is selected on a basis of points with the top team receiving 10 points, the second-place team receiving nine, etc. Every third week, the CBS Sports/NABC Poll will also announce a Division II and Division III Top 10, selected by 10 coaches from each division appointed by the NABC for the season. The CBS Sports/NABC Poll panel represents a cross section of coaches from the major NCAA basketball conferences and independents.
