As the old year of 1961 fades into the past, we look forward to 1982 with hopes and dreams. As usual at this time of year, we set down some thoughts for the coming year, some serious, some just for the h-- of it. NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS To mail our Christmas cards earlier next year. To remember I found our local stores well-stocked in '81. To win a bet from John Busscher. Not to shovel too much snow. To watch a Cub game this year. (Scouting for the All-Chicago World Series.) To look over a reducing diet. To take a motor trip outside of McHenry and Lake Counties. To plan a garden. (May not plant it, but can see no harm in planning.) To try a new hair- restoring formula. Not to listen blatherskites. to •^[8151385- _J DAILY 8 3(f5 30, SA I t P' I WED 8 30 1 BOB'S COLORS NOW OPEN SUNDAYS 9 AM -1 PM 4720 W. Not to lose my faith in Santa Claus. (I just learned he has a working agreement with God.) To write a poem. To write a letter to get some things off my chest, sign it anonymous--then tear it up. To learn some new jokes. To continue to get around and meet people. (We l^ce a vast majority of people.) ^ To ehjoy a gitflbd laugh. (The kind of laugh that rhymes with jelly.) Not to throw snowballs. Not to complain about the weather. ^ Well, not too much.) To ask the White Sox to give me a job as dollar a year man so I can tell them how to run the team. To remember true friends in my thoughts and in my prayers. To keep on lovin' my associates at the Plain- dealer. To look up last year's slightly used resolutions. To join Dick Rabbitt at a basketball game. (And to think there were many years when I never missed a game.) Not to challenge anybody to a foot race. So, away we go! Let's hope the new year will bring encouragement to all. The world needs peace and love. Maybe each of us can take some small part in bringing about those needs.
