He will discuss the importance of parent involvement and interaction and activity; the effects of relaxation and why sensorimotor development plays such a vital role in the mental development and organization of the child. He will also discuss and demonstrate ideas for parent-child activities and display current literature on the subject. O'Connor is shown above assisting Regiua Pry or on the left and Corey Loomis as they perform an exercise on a steagle which will help them develop balance and coordination. The apparatus was purchased by the district as an aid to carry out programs such as O'Connor's. The American Legion, along with 100 other veteran oriented groups and civic organizations will par­ ticipate. Mrs. Best, who heads the Department of Illinois National Security com-, mittee, Has set up a six-part program for this year. McHenry unit chairman, Marie Howe, announced that our unit has implemented this program by contibuting to the National Security fund of the American Legion Auxiliary; donated to the U.S.O. fund, which will benefit the O'Hare lounge and Randolph street facilities in Chicago and the Waukegan and Rantoul facilities; is aware of legislation supported by the American Legion; is in­ volved in Civil Defense Preparedness; supports law and order activities; and encouraged Savings Bond purchases. Grace Latimer, Past Presidents' Parley chair­ man of the McHenry unit announced she has received information for the state organization regarding the selection of Nurses Scholarship applicants. Five hundred dollar scholarships will be awarded to applicants who will be attending accredited nursing schools or hospitals for a two-year or more course and are in need of financial assistance. Mrs. Latimer has rules for prospective applicants and is most anxious to be of assistance to anyone in­ terested in applying for one of these nurse scholarships. Last year, 1& scholarships were awarded to recipients from all over the State of Illinois at the annual American Legion Auxiliary convention held in July in Chicago. Mrs. Voelke and her husband have been residents of McHenry the past eight years, having come from Cicero, IIL She is a member of the McHenry Senior Citizens club, bowling clubs, the Senior Citizens Walk-In center; and volunteers her services with the Pink Ladies at McHenry hospital. y "Luncheon Is Served" At Johnsburg Community Club Rinse tea stains from china by soaking overnight in a solution of denture cleaner. St. John's Home and School association of Johnsburg presents "Luncheon is Served" a distinctive dinihg ex­ perience, at noon Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the Johnsburg Community club. The public' is invited to attend the luncheon, which will be prepared and served" by Marvel Larson. During the serving, Ms. Larson will give an interesting com­ mentary on products used in preparation of the food and new products soon to be available on the market. She will also present little-known facts about food, such as differences in the sugar used, and how a famous pizza received its unusual name. At the conclusion of the meal, certain members of the audience will receive valuable coupons and samples of well-known products. As an added feature, Clarissa Koen will present "Antiques and Things". One may have pieces in the home which could be priceless antiques or valuable collectibles. Everyone is invited to bring an item for appraisal. Because of the advance food preparation, reservations will be taken until Jan. 19.
