RTE. 120, McHENRY MARKET PLACE View Parent-Student Relationships Jan. 27 The next in a series of parent group meetings at McHenry high school, West campus, will be held Wed­ nesday, Jan. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Room 210-211. The presentation and discussion will be led by Dr. Robert Blazier, superintendent of Crystal Lake Elementary School District No. 47, and will deal with parent-student relationships, parent burn­ out and stress. Dr. Blazier is known among the educational community for his witty and stimulating presentations about communications, stress and coping skills. Prior to becoming superintendent, he had extensive experience in c o u n s e l i n g j f i n d psychological work. The thrust of the parent group meeting series for the 1961-02 school year is to provide parents with in­ formation and usable skills to promote healthy relationships between them, their children and the school. In society today, a maximum educational effort is dependent upon an active relationship between the student, family and school. This West campus presentation is open to anyone wishing to attend. FEATURED IN CONCERt-Two featured soloists-Kurt Pfotenhauer on alto saxophone and Michael Greene on trombone-will be heard as part of the University of Notre Dame Jazz band in their concert at g p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, at the Crystal Lake South high school auditorium. The Crystal Lake South high school Jazi band, conducted by Mike Knauf, will also be featured. The Notre Dame Alumni Club of McHenry County is sponsoring the event and the proceeds will go to the club's Scholarship fund to Notre Dame. Tickets are available from all alumni club members, at the door, or by calling ticket sales coordinators, John R. Saville, 570 Orchard Road, or James J. Weltzien, 480 Nash Road, both of Crystal Lake. 3 Elks Hold Hoop Shoot Reveal Obligations Of Filing At Workshop Gib Kurtz, chairman of the annual Woodstock Elks Lodge No. 1043 Hoop Shoot free throw contest, an­ nounces that this year's event will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, at Marian Central fiigh school in Woodstock. There will be competition for both boys and girls in the following age divisions: 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13. No par­ ticipant may be 14 years of age prior to ..pril 1, 1982. Starting times for the various age divisions will be: 1 p.m., 8-9; 2 p.m., 10-11; and . 3 p.m., 12-13. Registration will begin 30 minutes prior to the beginning of each age group competition. The winning boy and girl in each division will vie with other winners in the district contest, which will be held at Mendota, 111., Saturday, Jan. 30. Following the district contest, the winners move on to the state contest, and the state winners will advance to the regionals. Winners of the regional eliminations will compete for National championships in Indianapolis, Ind. The National winners will have their names enshrined in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. Additional information may be obtained from the Woodstock Elks lodge (338- 0090). Rosemary Azzaro, McHenry county cleric, has announced that a workshop will be held Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. at the University of Illinois, Circle Center, Chicago Circle Center, Room 713, 750 S. Halsted street, Chicago to inform the candidates, political committees and mterested citizens as to the filing obligations under the Illinois Campaign Financing act. Ms. Azzaro stated, "It is important in this election year that everyone running for office knows when to file certain campaign con- Diabetes Meeting tribution reports and what information should be in­ cluded. We want to help everyone so that the law is followed in every respect." The workshop will be administered with the assistance of the Illinois State Board of Elections. The two main topics that will be discussed will be in­ struction for new candidates in the proper completion of reports of campaign con­ tributions and expenditures and to review procedures with existing political committees.
