Pat Wirtz's Lady Warriors won 44-42 at Jacobs Thur sday night and won 34-33 over Woodstock at West Campus Saturday afternoon to avenge an earlier loss to the Blue Streaks. McHenry, now 4-4 in the FVC and 5-10 overall, will host Dundee on Thursday, Feb. 11 then travel to Crystal Lake Central for an af ternoon game on Saturday, Feb. 13. In the contest with the Golden Eagles, the Lady Warriors relied on three Karen Karpavicius field goals in the fourth quarter to pull out the win. Karpavicius' shooting from the outside offset the poor free throw shooting by McHenry which almost cost them the game in the fourth quarter. The Lady Warriors made but two of 11 charity tosses in the final period and for the game made only 10 out of 24. Ten of the misses were from the front end of a bonus situation. Karpavicius finished with a team high 14 points and Robin Geiger, who also scored a clutch basket in the waning minutes, was close behind with 12. Terry Blume added eight points and Sue Smith pulled down a team-leading eight rebounds in a reserve role. Tied 12-12 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Warriors rallied back from deficits of 26-20 at halftime and 33-32 at the end of the third quarter. Against Woodstock, McHenry endured another tough test as the lead changed hands 12 times and neither team enjoyed an advantage of more than three points. Karpavicius' three-point play with 5:06 left in the game gave the Lady Warriors their first lead in the fourth quarter at 30-29. Kecia Knudsen then connected on two free throws giving the Blue Streaks a one-point lead, and Cheryl Sokoloski scored a field goal to put the score at 33-30 with three minutes to play. Blume closed the gap to 33- 32 with.: two charity tosses and with 2:32 left tO'play she scored what proved to be the winning field goal on an outside jumper. The Streaks got the ball back one final time with :20 remaining but their last second shot attempt failed giving the Lady Warriors their split. Karpavicius and Blume were the scoring leaders for McHenry with 12 and 11 points, respectively and each player also. ripped down nine rebounds.
