PAGE 20 - PLAINDEALER - FRIDAY* FEBRUARY 12.1IC Ringwood News Doris Low 653-9262 Katy Christopher 385-8037 Honored At Baby Shower It was truly a memorable day last Sunday for Sherry Low, wife of Tom Low, when she was guest-of-honor at a baby shower hosted by her sister, Pam Wickenkamp, and sister-in-law, Jane Pechous. Thirty-two ladies attended with so many lovely gifts for the an ticipated new arrival. One sentimental gift Sherry received was the bassinet she had given to her sister when Pam was ex pecting her first child. Another unique gift which was sent from California, was made up of diapers rolled up in the shape of a HARD STARTING? cake. The "cake" was decorated with two little yellow socks formed into four rosebuds, baby ribbons and diaper pins. The cen terpiece on the refreshment table was a beautiful cake in the form of a baby buggy and decorated in rainbow colors. Both Sherry's grand mother, Stella Bochat, and Tom's grandmother, Mabel Thomas, were present to share in the festivities. Out of town guests were from Park Ridge, Naperville and Woodstock. BELATED BIRTHDAY GREETINGS We are sorry to be a day late with our birthday greetings to David Sellars, who was eight yesterday, Feb. 11. We are sure mother and dad, Fred and Dotty Sellars, and brother, Danny helped him celebrate this important date. Many more happy birthdays to you David. VISITORS Mr. and Mrs. Neil An derson, with children Laurie and Lane, spent Sunday afternoon with her aunt and uncle, Clayton and Virginia Bruce. The Andersons are from Winnebago and were surprised to find so much snow here. Their area had been hit harder with ice and sleet and didn't get near as much snow. Feb. 5,12 & 19.1982) No. 820051 J POETS CORNER 3 THE BALLAD OF GETTYSBURG It was the summer of 1863 When Confederates led by General Lee Met the boys in blue under General Meade In a small town named Gettysburg. The men in gray, some 90,000 strong Thought that they could do no wrong; They no longer sing that song In a small town named Gettysburg. The men in blue were alert and prepared, Lee's forces did not have them scarea- If one was shot, no one cared In the small town named Gettysburg. The cannons echoed through the valley, The dead men continued to talley- Wounded lying in morbid alleys In a small town named Gettysburg. The sharpshooters killed men one by one; None of the boys thought it was fun- Some wanted to turn and run From a small town named Gettysburg. On the third day the roaring stopped. Many a soldier's heart had dropped Lying dead on big round top Outside a small town named Gettysburg. The men were buried where their bodies fell; In open graves their souls did yell- No more stories did they tell In a small town named Gettysburg. A turning point in the Civil War- 38,000 dead was the total score; Happiness they will share no more In a small town named Gettysburg. Hie living men would never be free From the very haunting memory. Their buddies, shot, beneath a tree In a small town named Gettysburg.
