From East, special talent citations were awarded, recognizing Doug Mullen, Chris Dubas and .Mark Schneider for outstanding solos. The> are pictured in front row of the East band picture. The band's next competition will be in ibe Mundelein Jazz Festival March 13, where they were chosen "best of class" in 1*1. The jubilant West campus aggregation received such comments as: "a very tight band", excellent interpretation" and "a very outstanding trombone section". Liz Byrnes, on guitar, Diane Cygan, on alio sax, and Steve Stach. on drums, received special citations for their excellence. Via taped audition, the band was invited to the Elmhurst Midwest Jazz Festival Feb. 24. They will participate in the high school portion of the inter-collegiate festival, where Clark Terry and Bobby Brookmever will evaluate the band.
