Jim Heard, the top scorer in the league, and teammate Randy Neiss were both held in check by Don Bentz and Ben Beck, respectively as they combined for wily 11 points. Steve Kasperczyk'^j rebounding and eight points and Dave Lawson's six points, however, helped the Buss-Stop to a four-point 27- 23 half time advantage. But Heard was beard from in the second half as he finished with 21 points and clogged up the middle of the lane, grabbing numerous defensive rebounds. Heard finished with only four field goals, but sank 13- of-16 free throw attempts to lead the winners. Kasperc- zyk followed in sewing with 12 points, and Neiss added seven. Beck tallied 13 points in each half for Hiller to lead all scorers with 26. He also was accurate at the free throw line sinking 10-of-13 attempts. Hiller's chances for victory were hurt severly, however, when Beck fouled out late in the second half. Steve Dobner came off the bench to add 10 points, and Don Bentz equalled that total for Hiller. Hiller had lost to the Buss- Stop in the season opener by five points, but later blew out the 1982 champs by 22 points which was the only loss for the Buss-Stop this season. The Buss-Stop 27-31 - 58 Hiller Construction 23-31-54 In the battle for third place, St. Regis Pub made it three straight this season over Christopher's Men's Wear with a 80-72 decision. Dehn, a senior forward, did most of her damage in the second quarter when the Skyhawks came back strong after falling behind. Trailing 17-11 at the end of the first quarter, Johnsburg outscored Marian 20-6 in the second period to take a 31-23 lead at intermission. Dehn tallied nine of those points. Marian sliced the lead to 41-37 after three quarters but could never regain the lead as two points was as close as the Hurricanes would get. "I told the girls to play the second half as though they were behind," said John- REJECTED -- Jim Heard, the Buss-Stop's 8-8 center, denies Hiller Construction center Don Bents this opportunity to score as he slaps the ball away.
