McHenry Girl Competes Marcia Mary Ball Circle Meets Apr. 6 The Marcia Mary Ball Circle of the United Methodist Women of the First United Methodist ERIN KATHLEEN MULLEN Erin Mullen, 22, of 4502 Mapleleaf drive, McHenry, will be among thos"e vying Tor the 1982 Miss Illinois-U.S.A. title and over $15,000 in prizes and awards. The Miss Illinois pageant will be televised live April 3 from the Rialto theater, Joliet, on WGN television from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available for both the preliminary swimsuit and evening gown competition April 1, and the televised finals April 3. Guests and newcomers are always most welcome. Senior U.M.Y.F. Scheduled Work Week In Appalachia I t t o o k 3 0 y e a r s t o c r e a t e t h e f i r s t z i p p e r . The Senior United Methodist Youth Fellowship of the First United Methodist Church of McHenry has been notified by the Ap­ palachia Service Project that they have been scheduled for work during the week of August 1 to August 7 in Clay county, Tennessee. The labor to be performed will be home repairs for economically disadvantaged families in Appalachia. The week will be full of hard work, sharing experiences, learning about themselves and their neighbors and growing together. The Senior U.M.Y.F. members will be ac­ companied by the Reverend Tom Lowery and his wife Vera, along with Tim and Jan Ballowe. This is an experience the group will remember forever In preparation for this work project, they will be having several fund raising projects, including bake sales, car washes in the spring and summer, and the Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, March 27, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship hall of the church. The public Js invited to participate, and reser­ vations for the dinner can be made, and tickets secured by contacting the church office or by calling the Ballowe home on W. Victoria avenue, McHenry. Vanessa Brady on the right, and Greg Eiserman, anxiously look at the Easter basket which will be filled with lots of treats and a stuffed bunny at the Valley View school Fun Fair, Saturday, March 27, from 11 a.m. to3:30 p.m. There will be carnival games with prizes for all, beautiful handcrafts and homemade goodies in the country story, bargains galore at the resale room, affordable family lunches, a moon walk bouncer and many more attractions. A fun time for the whole family is promised at the fair. STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD Woman's Club Plan Choral Program Luncheon And Card Party Pistakee Highlands Woman's club is busy planning for its annual Spring Luncheon and Card Party to be held Wednesday, March 31, at noon, at the Pistakee Highlands Com­ munity center. Proceeds from this lun­ cheon will be donated to v a r i o u s n c h a r i t a b l e organizations, and com­ munity service groups. Seating is limited, therefore, tickets must be reserved in advance. Prepare For Annual Spring Rummage Sale The Annual Spring Rummage Sale of the United Methodist Women of the First United Methodist Church of McHenry is scheduled for Thursday, April 1, Friday, April 2, and Saturday, April 3. The hours on Thursday will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to6 p.m.; and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon; in the Fellowship hall of the church. Rummage can be brought to the church, lower level, at any time, and stored in classroom 1-B. For any large items to be picked up, one may call the church office. There will be bargains of all kinds -- and while browsing and shopping, coffee and donuts will be offered at a very nominal cost. There are happy smiles on the faces of this couple, Louise Miller and Jerry Buch, as they join other members of the McHenry Choral club in a practice session for the annual spring program. WEST OF FOX RIVER ON IT 121) PRESENTS ART Scenes depicting the Holland setting of Victor Herbert's "The Red Mill", and the New Orleans colony of Sigmund Romberg's "The New Moon" in the 1770 era, will transform the West campus stage of McHenry school April 3 and 4. These are the two evenings the McHenry Choral club will present the annual spring program. The chorus will be heard in a formal arrangement to open the program, after which there will be a segment devoted to popular music through the years. The costumed sections featuring favorite music from the two operettas will conclude the program. From Herbert's classic there are-"Moonbeams", "Because You're You" and the stirring "Every Day Is Ladies Day With Me", with Craig Spengel as soloist. The Romberg work boasts such favorties as "Lover Come Back To Me", "One Kiss", "Softly As In A Morning Sunrise" and "Stouthearted Men". Curtain time is 8:15 both nights. The Reverend Walter Johnson will offer a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic church. Members and guests are asked to bring a box lunch for the noon meal. Coffee and dessert will be served by the Ladies Guild. There will be no board meeting this month. The Guild is making plans to attend a noon luncheon- play, "Social Security and Sensible Shoes" on May 6, at Borre's restaurant, John- sburg, (formerly Crescent Bay Landing). Guests are invited.
