The show also has reduced its lineup of co- hosts from 12 to four: Lin da Arkin, Cathy Smith, former Los Angeles Dodger first baseman Wes Parker and Joanne Carson, former wife of the "Tonight Show" host. Ms. Carson, who just turned 50, feels younger and better looking than ever before. "Getting to do this show was the best 50th birthday present I've ever had," she says. "I am there for the woman who has hit 40 or 50, to show her how to look younger, how to lose weight. I call it 'body wisdom' and I think I'm using television as a medium to share my knowledge." Ms. Carson says that she became interested in health because she went through "a lot of traumat ic things in the '70s, including a divorce, and I just felt T was going to die, so I came to California to get my health back." She says that the show is "an upper for me, because I need to help people and get them to be concerned about their own health." "Alive and Well" does not just cover diets and fads. "That's the beauty of this show," she says, "we present all facets of health and lifestyle because everyone has to find out the things that work best for them. We have some thing for everyone from natural cooking to stress management. "We have the tools, the experts and the time to do something really meaning ful for cable hewers, to give all America a code for having balance in their lives." ©1983 Compulog SC.A}OVic'S*a 3309 N.
