Monday, A {Mil 26, in Hilltop sanitorium, Lake Bluff. She was 91 years old. Miss Granger was born in McHenry April 17, 1891, in the same house where she had always made her home. Following the death of her parents, she and her two sisters were raised in the family home by grand­ parents. The deceased was a legal secretary, commuting to Chicago daily until her mid- seventies. She was a member of the Christian Science church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Miss Granger and her sister, Mrs. Robert (Fanny) Thompson, were among the m o s t k n o w l e d g e a b l e residents of McHenry about the community's early history. They were descendants of the Grangers and the Gages, who were among the early settlers. Flavel K. Granger served as village president in 1887 and also as a village trustee. West McHenry was for­ merly known as Gage town for George Gage, who owned the site. It came into existence upon arrival of the railroad in 1854. He was instrumental to quite an extent in securing the railroad. In 1875, George Gage submitted the history of known as D. J. AUTO RENTAL, located at 4910 W. Rt. 120, McHenry, IL., 60050. FRANK CONDON Frank Condon of Largo, Fla. died Friday, April 23, at the Royal Terrace Nursing Home, McHenry. He was 78 years old, born in Chicago April 13,1904, the son of John and Sophia Condon. Mr. Condon lived in Florida 11 years, having come from Chicago. He was a retired real estate ap­ praiser for Cook county. Surviving are his wife, Emily (Swiech); two sisters, Mrs. Helen Kane and Mrs. Robert (Rose) Roach, and a brother Henry Condon, all of Chicago; three brothers-in- law, Ralph Manning of McHenry, John Swiech of Florida and John Schnoll of Milwaukee; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, at St. Patrick's Catholic church, McHenry, with burial in Resurrection cemetery, Justice, 111. Friends called from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Peter M. Justen & Son funeral home. BEATRICE MCCURDY Beatrice M. McCurdy of Norwood, Mass. died Thursday, April <22, at Memorial hospital for McHenry county, Wood­ stock. She was 69 years old, born in Ontario, Canada Dec. 7,1912, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Grimes. Mrs. McCurdy had been visiting a daughter, Mrs. James (Margaret) Hum­ phreys of McHenry, for about six weeks. Survivors, in addition to her daughter, are three grandchildren, Kim, Jafries, Jr. and Loraine Humphreys. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. William Robisson at 2 p.m. Saturday, in the Peter M. Justen & Son funeral home. Visitation was held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday.
