Father Kagan Speaks At St. Peter Church On Wednesday evening, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. Father David Kagan will give a talk, "What is Marriage and what is Annulment?" at St. Peter's church hall, 2206 Main street, Spring Grove. Father Kagan is presently the vice-officialis of the Rockford Diocesan Marriage Tribunal. This should prove to be an in teresting and informative talk and is open to the public. Father Kagan was born and raised in Spring Grove, attended and graduated from St. Peter's parish elementary school, Spring Grove, and attended and graduated from ,the Salvatorian seminary high school, St. Nagianz, Wis. In 1971, he graduated from Loras college, Dubuque, Iowa, as a Philosphy major. After graduation from Loras college, Bishop O'Neill assigned Father Kagan to the Pontifical Gregorian univeristy in Rome, Italy, to do his four-year theological studies. On June 14, 1975. Father Kagan was ordained by Bishop O'Neill for : the Diocese of Rockford. He served as assistant pastor for two years at St. Patrick's parish, Dixon, before being reassigned by Bishop O'Neill to do graduate studies ip Construction Difficulties I'm sure everyone hsis noticed the detours on all the roads close to Meadow lane. The gas company is putting their lines lower in the ground in preparation of the road being widened. It's been difficult getting from one side of Lakeland Park to the other in recent weeks because we never know from one day to the next which streets will be closed. As soon as the Oak street ex tension is open our travelling should be made easier. Another inconvenience we've experienced since construction began was the day our water main broke and all drinking water had to be boiled for two days. Aldermen Ron Meurer and Ceil Serritella have suggested all residents keep some jugs of water stored in their homes in case this happens again. If there are any problems in the future, the police will be notified so a squad car will announce it over its loudspeaker and cable TV will also announce it through the television. I'm sure we can put up with these problems because the end result will be terrific. CLUB NEWS The Lakeland Park Womans club is sponsoring a benefit for FISH. If you know a member of the club please buy some tickets from her before June. GET WELL WISHES Eleanor Hearle is now Canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian university in Rome, Italy. Father Kagan returned to the Rockford Diocese after completing his graduate studies and obtaining his Licentiate degree in Canon law. At this time he was named vice-officialis of the Rockford Marriage Tribunal by Bishop O'Neill, and now serves in this capacity. Father also teaches a course in Marriage to senior students at Boylan Central Catholic high school, Rock ford. *"? •' 1 COME TO OUR Free Litton Microwave Cooking Demonstration SATURDAY, MAY 1ST 9:00 AM-1:00 PM • Learn how to cook 1. 2. 3 foods, and cook many complete meals all at once -- with Litton Microwave Ovens. • How to cook and defrost foods more evenly. • All the details of delicious microwave cooking. • How to grill a cheese sandwich in 90 seconds, cook bacon in 2 minutes, bake a potato in 4 minutes! • A trained home economist will answer all your questions about microwave ovens • Come taste the results for yourself!
