So far the network's scouting missions have found such talent as "Dynasty's" Al Corley and John James. Another ABC "find," Cheryl Paris, recently went before the cameras in "The Renegades," a two-hour movie pilot. The contemporary drama deals with seven street-gang leaders recruited by the police to go under cover and secure a large shipment of stolen weapons. Miss Paris portrays one of the gang leaders. BOX OFFICE -- In the past, NBC hasn't been known for its aggressiveness in purchasing ̂ ftiajor theatrical releases for prime-time viewing. That policy has changed drastically. Brandon Tartikoff, NBC's prime-time programmer, recently revealed many box-office smashes that will be aired in 1982-83. NBC has bought the rights to "Annie," "On Golden Pond," "Airplane!," "Ordinary People," "Little Darlings," "Blue Lagoon," "Urban Cowboy," "Elephant Man" and "Ft. Apache: The Bronx." It has been rumored that these releases will be beamed during the critical sweeps periods in November, February and May. NBC has taken a beating during these months, contrib uting to its last place position among the three non- cable TV nets. BEHIND THE SCENES -- The production team of Sonny Grasso and Larry Jacobson, which gave CBS its "Baker's Dozen" series, is working on other network projects. In the works are two pilots, "Johnny Garage" - and "The Television Hour." The former concerns an Italo-American garage owner. The latter, about a New York TV station, is set in 1949 when television was still in its infancy. SCOOPS -- NBC wants five additional scripts for the David Wolper-produced pilot based on the classic film "Casablanca." David Soul ("Starsky and Hutch") is said to have been chosen for the lead role, modeled after the character Humphrey Bogart played in the film. ©1982 Compulog
