Belvidere owned the fourth new record as the Buca won the two mile relay in 8:17.8 to breek the old record by six seconds. The Bucs were paced by Jim Elliot, one of the state's beat in the 880. Belvidere finished fourth with 53Vfc points. Schaumburg finiahed third with 67 pointa, followed by Belvidere, while Crystal Lake Central waa fifth with 46, and McHenry was sixth with 39. The Warriors were led/ by Aric Akins who captured the 188 yard daah in a time of HW and the sophomore sprint medley tfam which won in 3:52.1. The McHenry high school boys' tennis team dropped its first match of the season laat Wednesday at Round Lake marking the end of the streak of 5-0 match victorias. Prior to meeting the Panthers, the Warriors had blanked their first five opponents by the 5-0 margin. But despite the one loss, McHenry went on to an easy 4-1 victory, and the next day began a new streak by blanking Crystal Lake Central 5-0 Coach Gary Gray's netters now stand 3-0 in the Fox Valley conference and 10-0 overall. Against Round Lake, the match streak was snapped early as McHenry's number one singles player Scott Rhode loat in three sets 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 to Scott Hayes. But the remaining matches were all won handily by the Warriors in straight sets. In number two singles, Chris Stumbris defeated Dave Gersch 6-3,6- 3, while Brad Salman topped Leroy (Saldivar 6-2, 6-1. In number one doubles, Kevin Burgees teamed up with Randy Glick to defeat the Panthers' Larry Jergensen and Mark Campos 6-1, 6-0. Ed Donahue and Todd Rhode com­ pleted the competition with 6-1, 6-0 scores over Steve Schindler and Jack Wallin. Hosting the Tigers on Thursday, Scott Rhode reebounded to win in number one singles 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 over Jim Byrnes. In the doubles competition, Burgess teamed up with Salman in number one and downed Greg Isenberger and Glen Tacke 5-7, 6-0, 6-2. Donahue and Todd Rhode again combined in number two doubles to finish off McHenry's tenth strsight win. They defeated Jim Jeffers and Todd Stegall 6-2, 6-0. The junior right-hander hurled all eight innings allowing nine hita and only two walks, while striking out four. > Lake Zurich scored in the top of the first, but McHenry knotted the score in its first at bata on three succeesive singles by Bauml, Sivetaen, and Huff. Each participant must play three continuous innings and bat at least once.
