After falling and breaking her hip some time ago she is back home doing for herself Just as before the accident. She spent some time in a nursing home recuperating and undergoing extensive physical therapy. It's nice to know she's doing so well, you'd never know she once had a hard time walking. BIRTHDAY PARTY Tom and Elke Krak's daughter, Rochell, turned 15 years old on April 29. They had a party in their home for her on Saturday, May 1. Next door neighbors, Mike and Jane, were there with their children, Jennifer and Paul. Other neighbors who came were; Mr. Conrad and Mary and Leater Dobbins. The remainder of the gueet list read; friends, Ed and Carol, Joe, Aunt Diane and Uncle Wally, Aunt Carol, and Sherry. I heard one of the guests enjoyed all the delicious food Elke prepared that he went home with a slightly upset stomach. That's what happens when you get too much of a good thing. RECUPERATING Leater Dobbins had surgery in McHenry hospital on Monday, May 3. I heard he did so well that he was able to go home by the end of the week. We hope he continues to progress like this so he can be up on his feet again soon. COMES IN THREES Onaaad note I have to report three deaths that hit people of Lakeland Psrk laat week. We lost a fine lady on May 2 when Eleanor HOarle passed •way in Lutheran General hoapital, Park Ridge. She is mourned by her husband, Clar, son, Bob Matthews, and hia family, along with her many frienda in McHenry. Barb Borchardt loat her sister, Jaunita Koch, on May 3. Mrs. Koch had been a long time resident of McHenry so she too leaves many friends and family here. Christy has received the Leadership award In recognition of her leadership abilities which she has displayed during the past four years at McHenry East high school. Christy Is the president of East-Student Council, on the Varsity Pom Pon squad and a member of the Spaniah National Honor society. She will at­ tend Whitewater in the fall, where she will study language and com­ munication. America Tom Hutchinaon, a graduate student in the School at Architecture at the University of Illinois, has been granted a fellowship for summer study-travel in South America. Hutchinaon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hutchinson of 3704 W. Lee, McHenry, will leave May 22 and spend S months of independent study related to a travel program. Upon his return, he will submit his work for evaluation by the faculty for graduate credit. The fellowship stipend of $2,500 was granted to the McHenry student based upon general academic ex­ cellence, the nature and quality of the written proposal, and upon the need for travel to accomplish the project.
