The superintendent of Illinois State Police, Ronald J Miller, has announced the latest figures which indicate that during the month of April, IIS persons died from injuries sustained from traffic accidents on Illinois streets and highways. State n >te police. District 2, which covers Lake, McHenry, DeKalb, Kane and DuPage counties reports 58 persons have been killed in theee counties since Jan. 1 of 1982 Sixty persons were also killed during the same period in 1981 in these counties. A breakdown of the counties for statistics in April of 1982 shows Lake ^Aanr ica i Vi twpi i t t s county had 7 fatalities; McHenry had 1 fatality, DuPage county had 5; Kane county had 2; and DeKalb had 1. As a comparison for April of 1981, Lake county had 9 fatalities; McHenry had 8; DuPage county had 5; Kane county had 1; and DeKalb county had none. Four hundred and twenty eight persons have been killed in the entire state in 1982. There were 525 persons killed during the same time period of 1981 showing a decrease of 107. The Community Concerts association of Crystal Lake has an­ nounced that the week of May 18, will be membership campaign week for thel982-82 concert season. Over a hundred workers will be offering memberships, which include ad­ mission to the four concerts in the season, to residents all over McHenry county. The concerts which will be featured next season include Evelyn Petros, mezzo-soprano. Miss Petros, a delight to see as well as to hear, includes a variety of music in her repertoire, from classical and operatic arias to lighter, more familiar songs. Her appearance will open the season Saturday,' Oct. 2. On Friday, Nov. 12, the duo-piano team of Stecher Jt Horowitz will be presented. Concert-goers will remember their previous appearance here, and will look forward to another brilliant evening with this world- famous team. The third concert on the seriee will -offer a real change of pace with the hijinks of the Jack Daniels Original lver Cornet band, complete with The fourth and final concert will feature Carlos Curley, virtuoso on the electric organ, Sunday, April 17. Curley, who plays a specially built, four-manual Allen "Computer" electric organ, will offer a program which includes music from the master of the organ, J.S. Bach, through the contemporary repertoire Community Concerts \ proud to offer these fine programs to the public in McHenry county. The opportunity to participate in the association, and to hear music of this quality close to home, without the necessity of traveling long distances, paying "downtown" ticket prices, or trying to find parking places, make mem­ bership a pleasure as well as a bargain. "* Membership secretary, llrtrothy Snook, and her co-workers, have sent approximately 2,000 brochures, which include a membership spplication, throughout the county. AT1he final two concerts of the 1981-82 season, several hundred renewal memberships were purchased by "early-bird" members ensuring their seats for next season. Coin Club Events The McHenry County Coin club Is planning two events in the months ahead The first is the Elgin-McHenry county picnic at Huntley park Sunday, June 27, starting at 10 a.m. The other is the annual fall show Oct. 17. More information may be obtained by writing to the McHenry County Coin club, Box 271, Crystal Lake. The Coin club encourages sellers and buyers to deal with reputable dealers or to check with the club. It is not work that kills men; it is worry. Complete with slides and a movie of their family-run candy business, Leif and Lars Anderson will take the viewers into the world of old fsshioned candy making from a family in business since 1919.
