Balloting was held for one new member who wiO be installed at a later date. Adele Gartze would have received the Attendance award if she had been present; Marianne Wennstrom received the Special award. Discussion of the election of officers took place and plans were made for Kthe forthcoming birthday dinner which will be held June 1. Marilyn Comstock Publicity Pro-Tem Caribbean Cruise Planned By Recently Married vO'Hallerans A one-week cruise to the romantic Caribbean Islands was in the honeymoon plans of newly married Mr. and Mrs. Steven Midhael O'Halleran. The bride, the former Maureen Ann Blake, to the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Blake, Jr., 1518 S. Lily Lake road, McHenry. Fred O'Halleran and Evelyn O'Halleran, both of McHenry, are the parents of the bridegroom. The newlyweds repeated their promises of marriage May 22, during a 1 p.m. ceremony performed by the Reverend Edward Schott in The Church of St. Mary of the Assumption, McHenry. Special music Included "The Wedding Song" and "We've Only Just Begun", sung by a sister-in- law of the groom, Laura O'Halleran, accompanied by the bride's sister, Mona Bitterman. The altar was decorated with arrangements of pink and white flowers, and the sides of the pews were graced with bows. The bride wore a gown of knit chiffon over taffeta, fashioned with a Queen Ann neckline ahd sheer full sleeves, embellished with medallions Of Venise lace and deep lace cuffs. The bodice was trimmed with Venise lace a^d pearls; the A-line skirt was enhanced by a deep, pleated ruffle, echoing the lace treatment of the cuffs. Tiny flowers of lace ware scattered over the skirt and chapel length train. Her two-tiered veil, edged with cording, was secured to a beaded lace headpiece. She carried a cascade of pink roses, white car­ nations snd stephonatto. Sue Kelsey of Valley Park, Mo. was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Paula Carbone and Pat Blake, both of McHenry; Tracy Wallis of Cary; and Peggy O'Halleran of Mt. Prospect, a sister of the groom. Attendants were sttired in floor length, mauve polyester gowns styled with matching chiffon capes over multi-spaghetti straps and an overlay draped bodice.< They carried nosegays of pink roses, white fugi mums, miniature carnations and status. Mauve picture hats completed the look. A cousin of the bride, Lauren Blake of McHenry, was the flower girl. She wore a floor length pink organza dress featuring a ruffled neckline and a hoop skirt, drawn up and held in place by self-fabric pink roses above a deep flounce. Her hair was adorned with a headband of flowers. The best man was John Horner of Mattoon, 111. Groomsmen were Joe Sullivan; Scott Belohlavy; a brother of the groom, Fred O'Halleran; and Mike Blake, a brother of the bride; all of McHenry. The ring bearer was a cousin of the bride, Nathan Klontz of Vernon Hills, 111. Greg O'Halleran, a brother of the groom and Tory Blase, a brother of the bride, both of McHenry, served as ushers. All wore silver gray tuxedos. The mother of the bride chose a floor length, mauve pink chiffon gown with a wide cape cascading in back, and a full skirt, trimmed at the waist with a Wide tie belt and flower of chiffon. A floor length, dusty pink chiffon gown with cape sleeves over a spaghetti strapped lace bodice and matching luster glo skirt, with a narrow belt was the choice of the groom's mother. Both had orchid corsages. Following the nuptials, a reception was held at the Johns burg Community club for 250 relatives and friends. Upon return from their honeymoon, the couple will reside st 1021 N. River road, McHenry. The bride graduated from McHenry Community high school in 1980 and is currently employed as a secretary for Kemper Insurance group, Long Grove, 111. The groom graduated from the same high school in 1974; received a degree in Construction Technology from Bradley university in 1978; and is presently an estimator for A-l Acoustic and Drywall Co., McHenry. The bride was honored at three showers prior to the wedding. McHenry Americon Legion Auxiliary The annual Spring convention of the Uth District of the American Legion Auxiliary was held Sunday, May 18, at the Elmhurst Legion Post home. Delegates attending from the McHenry unit were President Dorothy Messer; Marge Datz, District Memory Book chairman; Ruth Mrachek, District Constitution and Bylaws chairman. Distinguished guests were Virginia Kates, department president; Angie Powell, department historian; Elaine Murphy, past department president; Dorothy Mersman, second division president; Helen Suitts, twelfth district president; Helen Haneen, twelfth district coupon chairman; and George Heinrich, eleventh district commander. Greetings were given by Larry Beason, department senior vice- commander; Virgil Banker, eleventh district senior vice-commander; Gertrude Neefe, Elmhurst post commander; Agnes Mattick, Elmhurst unit president; and Louise Lupo, DuPage county vice-president. Ruth Mrachek was distinguished guest chairman. A very impressive memorial ser­ vice was conducted by Shirley Newell of Elgin, assisted by the four county chaplains for deceased members of nd Mrs. the district, including five from the McHenry unit. In public relations, first place for units over 200 members was awarded to Ruth Mrachek of.the McHenry unit for her press book, and it to to be sent to division for further judgihg McHenry unit collected a total of 20. 338 coupons and a personal award was given to Pearl Cooper for her super effort. A personal award was also given to Marie Howe, McHenry unit national security chairman, for the unit> contribution to the USO program. Amy Vayo received an award for first place winner, class I, in the Americanism essay contest. ' Election of officers for the year 1962-83 was held, and Jamie Wesley of Joliet was elected as the new eleventh district president. Other officers are Mary Gorny, Whaaton, vice- president; Shirley Newell, Elgin, historian; Marion Karlove, Crystal Lake, chaplain; Jessie Banker, Bolingbrook, treasurer; and Virginia Collins, Wilmington, secretary. The sergeants-at-arms will be the in­ coming president of DuPage, Kane, McHenry and Will counties. Mrs. Dorothy Migalla, Wheaton, was en­ dorsed as historian of the second division. Mrs. Wesley announced that installation will be held in Joliet Sept. 17, at Harwood No. 5 post home. After an annoucement from the credential committee chairman that 93 delegates were in attendance at {he convention, the meeting was ad­ journed. Pour over four cups diced, cooked warm chicken and marinate several hours. The Reverend Robert Gordon of­ ficiated at the4 p.m. nuptials in Grsce United Methodist church, St. Ldbto» Appropriate musical selections were provided on the organ by the bride's roommate, Stephanie Wehrman. The bride wore a white lace gown styled with a high neckline, long, cuffed sleeves, and a short train. A sister of the bride, Ruth Snyder of Peoria, 111., served ss her maid of honor. She was sttired in a powder blue gown featuring a high neckline and pleated skirt. Handling the duties of best man was the groom's father, Richard Johnson of Denver. The mother of the bride choee s floor length, blue gown, enhanced with a filmy blue cape, flowing from the neckline. A floor length, pink gown was the choice of the groom's mother. Following the wedding ceremony, 65 friends, and relatives enjoyed s buffet supper and dancing. The new Mrs. Johnson graduated from McHenry Community high school in 1978; earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Washington university in 1982, and is a clinical lab technician cytogenetics, at Barnes hospital. Her husband graduated from the same university with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture in 1982, and to employed by that school as a construction coordinator. Senior Wolk-ln Center Meals are served Monday through v Friday at the McHenry Walk-In center beginning at 11:45 a.m. Reservations must be made by 1:30 p.m. the day before at 3858260.
