Although the dinner was the first of annual spring gatherings for MCHS employees, the occasion drew an exceptionally large crowd for the purpose of recognising one of the school's best loved and most efficient teachers. WATER REMINDER All residents of Lakeland Park should have received a letter from our water company by now. If you didn't get one, it said that during the Meadow lane project there may be times our water will be shut off or we may experience low pressure. If this happens, we are to boil our drinking water for three minutes. If you have some empty containers, it would be to flu them now with water and wise you wi boiling wouldn't have to worry about "German Research" Topic For Genealogical Society "German Research" will be the topic discussed by Gisela Ohlrich, a native of Germany, at the monthly meeting of the McHenry County Genealogical society. The meeting will be Thursday, June 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran church, Woodstock, in the Fellowship hall. Mrs. Ohlrich will give a brief overview of the history of Germany from about 1800 to the 1850's, providing some of the reasons why these immigrants left their homeland and came to a new country to make a new start. She will provide in­ formation on whom to contact and where to write for records in present day Germany. The society is sponsoring a two-hour program of "An Introduction to Genealogy" at each of, tWe'Jcbunty libraries during thfc months 6t June, July and August. Betty Massman, education program director, will give a brief outline on how to get started in * genealogy and some of the basics like how to fill out the various forms and charts, the use of vital records and census reports, etc. This will be a fine opportunity to find out more about this fascinating hobby and it is free. The June schedule is as follows: June 9, Nippersink district library, 10306 Main street, Richmond; June 23, Algonquin Area district, 115 Eastgate drive, Algonquin; June 30, Woodstock public library, 414 Judd street, Woodstock. In July, on the 7th, at Marengo public library, 118 E. Washington, Marengo; the 14th, Grove Public library, 306 Lincoln avenue, Fox River Grove; the 21st, McHenry County college (lounge), Rt. 14 and Lucas road. Crystal Lake; and on the 28th, McHenry public library, 1011 N. Green street, McHenry. Crystal Lake; the 11th, Cary public library, 255 Stonegate road, Cary; 18th at Delos F Diggins public library, 101 Church boulevard, Harvard. SCHOLARSHIPS Two students from East campus, Annette Koscher and Michele Smith; and Rich Miller from West campus will be going to Whitewater, Wis., in August. These three kids won scholarships to attend the college to learn more about journalism. Annette and Rich were chosen for the fine work they do on their school newspapers and Michele wis chosen for the great job she does on the yearbook. These students expect to learn much about the field of jour­ nalism and Annette promises to share everything she learns with me. TEACHERS GET BREAK . If you were outside yesterday as were returning home v I'm sure you could hear the sounds of kids cheering. I'll bet some of the teachers were cheering too, ready for -a few months of relaxation. It's that time of year again when we'll see kids everywhere we turn. If your children are like mine, complaining there to nothing to do after a few days home, • send them to the park or pool. He celebrated his special day with his dad by going out for dinner then going to see the movie "Rocky 3". lie will be celebrating again this week when he has a bunch of.friends over for a dhmpout party.
