JUNE 9.1992 ••• ' • A •• IM A A West End Pub Rallies; Fox Hole Tap Wins Two More The faces of the players on the West End Pub bench could not have looked more pessimistic. Going into the bottom of the sixth inning the While's Tail was in control bedding what should have been an insurmountable 11-3 lead. Rick Wiegman led off the !*ub sixth with a triple over a pulled in left fielder. Psul Petty singled in Wiegman and took second on a throwing error. Bill Boltz singled in Petty and took second as the Whale's Tail threw the ball around again. Ken Prazak reached base on an error as did Chuck Gandolfi. The next five batters singled followed up by Rick Wiegman's second triple of the inning. Wiegman's r hit put the Pub-Kiss It in the lead for the first time. Two runs later West End Pub-Kiss It held a 15-11 lead having scored 12 runs on 12 hits and taking advantage of 4 criticial Whale's Tail errors. The Pub held off a final Tail rally in the seventh inning to win 15-12 and hold onto second place in the East in McHenry Men's 12-inch softball. Rick Wiegman was the big hero, going 4-for-4 with the pair of triples. Chuck Gandolfi and Paul Petty each added three-hit performances, Petty scoring three times while driving in two runs. Bobby Truax, Wayne Roewer and Bill Boltz had two nits each. Fred Stocker led the Whale's Tail with four base hits - he currently is the number two hitter in the East with a .652 average. Marian Girls Win Last SHARK Title MARENGO -- Despite having already been eliminated from further post season play, the Marian Central girls' softball team had one more contest to make up last week when it traveled to Marengo. The Hurricane girls avenged an earlier loss to the Indians as they won 12-6 in the deciding game for the last SHARK conference championship. Both teams had finished 5-2 4n the conference with the make-up game pending. Marian's senior all-conference pitcher Joyce Kennebeck also gained some revenge herself as she pitched a four-hitter and struck out seven batters. Kennebeck, who ended the season at 11-3, had suffered her first loss of the season against Marengo in that first meeting. The Hurricane girls took advantage of 13 base on balls issued by three Indian hurlers and pounded out 11 timely hits to win the contest easily After the first inning, Marian had everything going ita way. Junping out to a 6-0 lead after its first at bats, Kennebeck struck out the side in the- bottom half of the frame and the Hurricanes were never headed. They added five in the top of the second and tallied their final run in the sixth. The Indians got solo runs in the second; fourth, and Hfth innings, and scored their final three in the bottom of the sixth. Betsy Bauman led Marian at the plate with three hita including a triple. Sara Traver followed with two nits including a triple, while Janet Cor coran, Donna Remke, Beth Penza, and Kim Kuper also garnered two hits. Marian finished 6-2 in the SHARK and 11-4 overall after a regional loss to Cary-Grove. Marengo finished M in the SHARK, Harvard 4-4, and Johnsburg and Hononegah were each 2-6. DR. FREDERICK E.
