' As th* years increase, seems that a longer week'd make it a lot easier t' get all th' things done that need doin'. First thing a body knows, they've piled up so it's a question of they'll e'er get caught up. Here it is June already, an' another garden, wi' winter fare'U pervide fr this ol* lady, God grantin' me finds th' energy t' accomplish th' puttin' away o' th' bounties. r Another Memorial day passed, wi' apprehensive hearts, an' prayers that young lives may be spared th' horrors o' war. No one knows th' facts o' th' present conflict, but we wonder if it may be more involved than we know. Wi' th' passin years, closer contact wi* nations has made th' world seem smaller. In those times, as this granny grew up. it took much longer t' travel th' miles, but in jist these short years, ever'thing has changed so much, an' distance doesn't matter anymore. Man has conquered it wi' means we ne'er thought possible, an' along wi' that, he's put th' world in jeopardy wi' th' awful materials o' warfare. As this great-granny sees young folk a gradiatin' from all phases o' formal edication, me mind can't help a prayin' that those lives may not be hampered wi' conflict b'tween nations. Our "United Nations" seems t' not have th' power t' settle dif ferences that arise, but we've seen, in times past, that lives lost, in battle, gained little fr th' betterment o' mankind, in so many cases Wars, fought fr th' freedom t' live, an' worship as one wishes, are th' only ones we can condone. Greed fr power, an' th' reaources o' th' land, can't be tolerated; by decent human bein's. So, we go along, a tryin't' keep a goin', wi' a prayer in th' heart, that childern won't be told their daddy died in a war, an' young men'll live t' know Ui' joy o' fatherhood-- Another milestone psaaed fr this person, an' comes t' mind th' wish that ever'one may know th' blessin's o' parenthood, which is a good start t' bein' a great-grandparent, aa seven tykes ha' made this ol' lady.
