The drive will be held in the parking lot of the McHenry Market Place on West Route 120. According to a McHenry County Defenders spokesman, resource recovery, another way of saying recycling, should be high on everyone's list of priorities. It is estimated that in one year, U.S. consumers use 6 billion barrels of petroleum products, 120 million tons of iron and steel, and 103 million tons of paper. The public discards 60 million tons of paper, 38 billion bottles and jars and 76 billion cans. The Ad ministration, advised by the district's lawyer that social promotion is legal, recently expressed a desire that the policy be adopted. Communication to the board had indicated "statistics show that very little is gained by retaining students during their junior high school years, especially a second time". Survey Shows 10-Cent Climb In Gas Prices Average gasoline prices have climbed about 10 cents s gallon in the past six weeks, the AAA-Chicago Motor Club's latest Fuel Gauge survey showed recently. With an average 4.5 cent hike per gallon in the past two weeks, full service prices have jumped 8.3 cents a gallon and self serve prices 11.4 cents a gallon since bottoming out at the end of April, the survey showed.
